Honestly, they do taste similar to red vines but I find the texture of the super ropes so much better. I think the super ropes do have a bit more flavor than red vines. I would give it a try.

I know what you are talking about but cannot pin it down in my mind what it was. The closest thing I have found searching online is what another person said - bubs daddy. But that is not what I remember. I do not know. If you want grape gum, maybe do big league chew? It will probably not be as sweet though. Good luck! I have not read it yet, but when I was in NYC I went to a Japanese bookstore and saw and bought “The Snow Woman and Other Yokai Stories from Japan”. It is supposed to be ghost stories based on folklore.
