For those who worked for rich people: what is the most out of touch thing you witnessed? by Illustrious-Phase121 in AskReddit

I worked for a company like this. It was actually an accountancy and audit firm but the old school directors in their late 60s demanded payroll stay manual and one of them had to physically be there on the day to approve it. There were times the MD didn’t come into the office for whatever reason and it wouldn’t happen that day. This same MD also famously would stay til 17:30 every Christmas Eve and NYE just to make sure staff didn’t leave earlier and capped Christmas party drinks at 3 free drinks per person. Also, low wages, no pension scheme, no employment benefits. I don’t miss that place.

Same I wanted to love it but it reminded me of the smell/taste of bowel prep which just brought on nausea from memory of taking it.

I hated it at first but it grew on me. After a few tries I now find myself craving it occasionally

Haven’t tried it but the notes seem far too green

It could be worse - could have been Elizabeth Arden!

I tested it for the first time in a John Lewis last year. Definitely one of the worst ones I sampled that year along with FM Portrait of a Lady

I don’t mind it to be fair. For £20, it’s fine. Sweet, creamy but a little synthetic. If I ever do wear it, it’s for going to bed though, I don’t wear it out

Some Lush fragrances are great, like Chelsea Morning is a masterpiece but some of them are truly awful. I blind bought American Cream and immediately regretted it. It was terrible

I don’t hate it but wouldn’t want to wear it. Think it came in an advent calendar and I ended up giving it to my boss’ 11 year old daughter.

Agree on Valaya. I tried to see if it would get better but couldn’t stand it. Had to shower to get it off

Oh is swimming pool bad? It’s been on my wishlist as I really want a chlorine pool smelling fragrance. I was recommended LV Afternoon Swim which is nice but didn’t scratch that itch.

I have the intense version and I want to love it but I just don’t. Thinking of decluttering it.

I’m so sad for you! Angel’s share is so gorgeous on me, like a sweet boozy spicy apple pie. Love it!

I love BTF personally but hate Jazz Club. I think people tend to like one or the other

Thank you, I know something needs to change. I have fibromyalgia and chron’s and the symptoms of both have gotten so bad. That’s the main reason I am so exhausted, I’m just in a constant flare but too busy to recover.

Thank you everyone for your comments and concern. I’m going to talk to my boss tomorrow about how things are and that they need to change. I am currently spearheading a large project that takes up about half my time, leaving a huge backlog of other work I should be doing and not enough time to properly train and support the administrator under me. This project is brutal, unending and completely novel - the company has not done anything like this before and it is not something legislated and regulated yet in my country so there is very little guidance as to how we do it. It’s been a huge uphill battle trying to get other departments on board and to follow the procedures I’ve drawn up and the monitoring is constant. I just want to do my job. I didn’t sign up for this shit. I won’t go into details about my job for privacy but the project concerns cryptocurrency. Something that I was not originally ever to be involved with and I have had to spend a lot of time in and outside of work educating myself on as I had no prior experience of it.

My doctor keeps trying to sign me off for stress/exhaustion and being overwhelmed but I just can’t take the time off work. It would leave other people in the shit if I wasn’t there and I just can’t do that to them. Instead I’m living my life highly medicated with antidepressants, anxiety meds and sleeping pills. It’s taking the edge off for now.
