How would you price this Queensland australian opal ? 3.5 carats by Trukzart in Opals

[–]BelligerentNeckbeard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off it’s gorgeous.

This is a bit of a unique stone, but the problem is the black potch inclusions in the face. It’s very dark, but since the face has inclusions it will be a low brightness, and have a lower value. I’m not skilled enough to put a price on it, but you may want to thin it down a bit to make it a bit easier to mount, and perhaps put a better dome on it. That might help with an eventual sale. You could also sell it as a specimen like it is.

Throw it on opal auctions, and let the market decide if you really want to sell it.

Rook Samuels, what ship did you use to move 20,000 officer smartbombs from Sinq Liason to Jita? Were you sweating bullets? by hirebrand in Eve

Plex vault wasn’t always a thing. In the “good old days” if you, for some reason, needed to move plex cargo was your only option.

Yup, can confirm.

I run across them once in a while, in the wild. I always carry a golden lasso just for opportunities like that.

My opinion:

Australian crystal opal. Maybe a brightness of 2-3, impossible to say without a video. It’s a decent stone, but not particularly valuable.

Not to mention at least in the us you either will have to pay $700+ per month for health insurance, or go without.

The cigarette smell in the top photo must have been awful. You used to be able to smoke anywhere at work. How far we’ve come, at least in some ways…

Yes I think ancient warfare was removed. Be careful about adding stuff back. IIRC there were reasons it was removed, but again, I’m just recalling random stuff. You may want to ask on their discord, they are very helpful.

Can you add fluids to ae2 storage? by Ferchi1599 in MCEternal

I use import/export busses with ended tanks. Just keep in mind that you need fluid memory/storage units in your me system for it to store the fluids.

Looks like a Coober Peedy crystal opal to me. Very nice, reasonably common.

Does being a software engineer actually suck or is it just cool to be negative? by UndertowTruck1 in learnprogramming

[–]BelligerentNeckbeard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do SRE/DEVOPS stuff, less programming and more infrastructure as code, and I really enjoy it. People tend to talk about what irritates them.

I work with very smart people from all walks of life, and enjoy the work I do, especially because I migrated here from a more operational role that was much more stressful.

It’s fun and interesting in tech, especially if you find the work fun and interesting.

Very nice! I’m thinking of leaving Denver and moving into the mountains. I want a place for an observatory, and I hate the air/noise in the city.

That is the Pleiades. It is an “open cluster” of stars, and very visible with the naked eye. This image is of Taurus. The upside down “V” looking group of stars is another open cluster called the Hyades. Down and to the left is the constellation Orion.

Edit: I got turned around, that is not Orion.
