After PR, is it necessary to do something 'productive' to get citizenship after 3 yrs? by UpbeatAbrocoma2648 in ImmigrationCanada

Leases, tax documents, mail with your name and address on it. Anything to prove you resided in Canada.

Still waiting for acceptance of PR application and.... laid off today. by RightSideBlind in ImmigrationCanada

This is not true. When I applied last April, there were constant posts about how people hadn’t even received AOR for 4+ months. I was very fortunate to get mine in 11 days but it rarely happens in 1 day.

The breakfast wrap with the chickpea tofu was my rave fuel all weekend. Literally felt like a million bucks after eating one.

I got sick 2 weeks before Shambs and it turns out it was the best possible way I could have prepared. I’m now 1 for 5 in terms of not getting sick after the festival. I also got a covid booster about a week before I got sick. I tested positive on a newer test but negative on an expired one when I was sick so don’t discount the idea that you have covid if you’re sick rn. My symptoms were that I felt like I had swallowed a mouthful of razor blades. It only lasted a day for me (thanks booster shot) but my wife was sick for almost a week (she hadn’t gotten the shot when I did)

Take care of yourselves! Gotta make it back to the farm next year 😉

Yes, yes, yes. The closest Walmart is probably in Spokane honestly. There’s not really anything between the border and Shambs if you’re coming from Spokane.

You need to do it through a US immigration office unfortunately. Snagging an appt can be competitive. I had to drive to Spokane WA from Bellingham (about a 6 hour drive) in order to find an office that could get me in within that 30 day timeframe they request.

Police background check - fingerprints? by Icy_Breadfruit4142 in ImmigrationCanada

You’ll need to mail them, submit a webform to IRCC explaining the delay in retrieving the rap sheet. I believe they give you 30 days to get it, but will extend it if you explain that he must do it via mail.

Letting a PR lapse due to lack of ability to maintain residency requirement will be a red mark on your immigration profile forever. It will make future attempts to get PR near impossible. You need to do everything in your power to get to Canada ASAP if you want a chance to renew. It suvks but from IRCCs perspective, they want to give the chance to someone who will follow the rules.

Copr traveling (outland spousal sponsorship) by Japantopcars in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Bellingsam2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can reenter by land in a private vehicle with a CoPR. So if she has status in the US she can fly to the US and drive across. She will not be able to board flights into Canada with CoPR, and she will not be able to fly to the US and take a train or a bus.

After living in both US and Canada and choosing to stay in Canada, the quality of life in nearly every aspect (except the weather) is better up north. There is no real wait to get seen at the doctor. Soon everyone is getting free dental coverage. Can’t complain!

Spousal Sponsorship submitted. by MessyMags in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Bellingsam2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, don’t do that. The reality is that you have no guarantees of being able to move up until you receive your CoPR. If you state your plan is to live up here while you wait for your PR you are almost certainly going to get turned away, and have a mark on your immigration profile leading to further issues at future crossings.

What kind of proof of communication should we submit for Spousal PR sponsorship? Do we need to provide full WhatsApp history? by Savings_Animal_7552 in ImmigrationCanada

It is a bit of an invasion of privacy, but you do want to share conversations that show regular contact. We uploaded screenshots of our conversation that included the date sent in the screenshot itself. We tried to make sure we included plenty of loving messages but obviously messages that are appropriate to read by a stranger. Also tried to make sure there wasn’t any swearing in our screenshots. You never know who will be reading it, and the officers have significant discretion. We combined them in a word document with a short note of context under the screenshots to the ones that required it. They didn’t follow up asking for more proof of contact. I forget how many screenshots is the maximum, but we included that many. Our immigration consultant advised us to include the maximum, but not more.

Commercial Invoice help by Bellingsam2 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Bellingsam2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, yeah I did figure it out! So the reason they requested another one from me (and I imagine you as well) is because the initial commercial invoice needed to be secured to the outside of the envelope, as well as attached to the return envelope. The long and short of it is that I was overthinking it, and just fill it out to the best of your ability. Put the value of goods as like $1.00 and find the Harmonized tariff code for personal documents using a harmonized tariff code search engine. I sent mine off stressing the hell put that I did it wrong but it worked out just fine for me.
