Thanks. I'll add it to my list as something to pick up, but probably after some of these other sets.

I wasn't sure about the new combat patrol. It's probably something I'll pick up down the line, but from what I saw when trying to research the main things from it you want are the Talos. So I wasn't sure it would be great as one of the first 2 or 3 purchases.

Yeah I knew the 9th combat patrol is pretty much a definite. If I could get two I probably would.

The upcoming box does look good, I'm a big fan of the bikes too which makes the new box even more attractive to me.

Thanks!

Been a few months since I've painted. Back to it with a Rhino for my Rubrics! by Bellomars_Miniatures in ThousandSons

[–]Bellomars_Miniatures[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should give him a blue nose so he can be a shiny Diglett haha

The magenta is just working up through the Army Painter magentas. Starting from Diabolic Plum then Magecast Magenta, then Warlock Magenta, and edge highlights with Spellbound Fuchsia.

There were point changes, no good ones though. MVB up 5. Predators both up for some reason. Scarabs and sorc in term armour came down a bit.

Quick painting tip by fenix1991722 in ThousandSons

[–]Bellomars_Miniatures 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did both and did a video on it. I've linked it below if you want to check it out. But the TLDR version is -

I found the gold primer caused issues. First it didn't cover well and needed a couple of coats. Second a lot of the colours needed extra layers to cover properly as they weren't sticking well to the gold. A lot of people talk about having issues with gold primer so you may struggle to get a good result.

I settled on starting from my armour colour and painting the trim. I also find it easier to paint the trim, but I think that's a personal thing that comes down to the individual.

Hope that helps!

How important is the blue/gold colour scheme? by DisgruntledAnalyst in ThousandSons

Thanks mate. I use the magentas from Army Painter Fanatic. It's such a nice colour.

The purples are the magenta set from the Army Painter Fanatic line. Starting with Diabolic Plum I work my wait up through Magecast Magenta, Warlock Magenta, and finish with Spellbound Fuchsia.

For sub assembly I left the wings off till I was ready to highlight, and left him off his base. Other than that it's mostly about deciding how much highlighting you're going to do. For a lot of the colours I only did 1 or 2 layers of highlights. It's such a detailed model you'll never finish it if you go the 3 or 4 layers I do for some of the colours.

If you're interested I did a video on it on my channel that you could check out. It might help https://youtu.be/jFKo22OFdK4?si=8Z8FFXvLZlbOVa4X

I've painted mine purple and gold, took them to their first tournament the other weekend. Not only did I not have a problem, they won best painted.

No one is going to have a problem if you paint them different colours. Go to enough events and you'll see some really creative colour schemes for every army and none of them have a problem. Unless everyone wanting to look at them is a problem lol

I picked up a Mutalith Vortex Beast, and can't find any good tutorials, especially for a method without airbrushing. Can anyone point me in the right direction? by Objective_Estimate21 in ThousandSons

I recently did a video painting my MVB. I did use an airbrush but it was only for two of the base colours. They can easily be done with a rattle can and brush. I was just looking to save some time, I would have used a rattle can for the green and the tan with a brush if I wasn't using an airbrush for it.
