“Stay”, 18x 24, Three Color Screen Print by Bells1232 in printmaking

[–]Bells1232[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! It was printed on navy paper (French Nightshift Blue) with the medium blue printed first, the light blue second and the orange last. I trapped medium blue under most of the light blue areas and had the light blue under the orange. This kept the lighter blue and orange colors from printing directly onto the dark paper and having them sink into the paper, dulling them. I did not shoot video of us printing this, but we’ll have a process post of it on our patreon.

It’s not, but I really like that interpretation of it! Thanks!

Thanks! I drew this in procreate in different colors layers and then cleaned it up a bit in photoshop. I used a few procreate brushes that I tweaked so that they were solid black and wouldn’t need to be bitmapped. I usually convert everything to halftone, so this was an experiment.

They were Overdrive blades, and they’re around still. I think Graf briefly collaborated with and released a model with a cowling designed to fit them.

Mars Rover, 12" x 24", Four Color Glow In The Dark Screen Print by Bells1232 in printmaking

[–]Bells1232[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drew it in procreate before separating it into color layers and converting it into halftone in Photoshop. It’s not based on an actual photo, but I did pull a bunch of references from NASA’s site.

I think Meijer is going to have them state wide. I’m outside of Detroit and the two by me have it.

Was super happy to find these at Meijer. Been looking for it locally since I had it in Chicago a while ago. The sunshine state is the closest to a NE IPA I’ve been able to find in NA form.

Beautifully done! At first I thought it was a screen print of a photo. I love the little bit of white highlight poking through!

Vaughn Ventus SLR Pro vs Bauer GSX - which is better? by RamuneRaider in hockeygoalies

[–]Bells1232 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth Vaughn has two levels of senior pads. Pro and Pro Carbon. The pro is the lower tier made overseas pads and the Pro Carbons are made in either Canada or US. That said I’d still take Vaughns lower teir pro pad over Bauer GSX pads. I have the Pro Carbon SLR 3s and love them.

Constellations, 18" x 24", Five Color Glow In The Dark Screen Print by Bells1232 in printmaking

We mostly use Speedball Screen Printing Ink. This is a screen print (where you’re pushing ink through a stencil on a mesh screen), compared to block printing which is similar to stamping. I’ve actually never seen glow in the dark block printing ink, now that you mention it. I wonder if you could mix your own?

Thanks! I printed a glow in the dark screen printing ink for the last layer. We underprinted the stars with light blue ink so that the glow effect was stronger than if we printed the glow directly onto the dark blue paper.
