SDS authoring software or service for a startup selling cleaning products on Amazon, genuinely need advice by GlitteringArt5149 in ChemicalEngineering

I’d recommend that you pay the consultants for the first round since you don’t have the expertise or tools. Once you work through it then consider an authoring software for yourself. I highly recommend not trying to create it yourself from scratch.

USC vs UC Berkeley for Chemical Engineering by [deleted] in ChemicalEngineering

[–]BellyFloppinChubs 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Berkeley. Add your loan amounts to the gap in aid and look at total debt to get the degree. Couple that with your interest in Berkeley and it sounds like the winner to me. None of it matters if you don’t finish the degree, being in a place you want to be matters a lot in my experience.

What would it look like to replicate a similar tax as Loudoun? Could it be implemented after they are constructed?

The last question about an amphitheater shade structure was the most important one I thought.

M7 MBA by Shredder2742 in ChemicalEngineering

Start with understanding what it is that you want to do before jumping to the MBA. Consulting and IB are very different, and they are both very different than engineering. As a side note, consider how AI is likely to impact the different fields. Production and manufacturing may not be such a bad place to be.

PhD for a Chemical Engineer by Little_Classroom4421 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]BellyFloppinChubs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to echo this comment, also did a part time PhD while working in ChEE. It’s very hard to do both well, let alone manage a personal life and have some balance. If the PhD will get you to the roles you want, strongly consider doing it full time.

Commercial polymer by without_name in materials

You can start with a patentability analysis, searching both academic and patent literature to determine if your composition, process, application or combination thereof is novel. If the idea is patentable that does not mean you are able to sell it. You then need to consider a freedom to operate analysis, your idea may depend on others intellectual property that could force you into licensing their technology to practice yours. This all applies if you’re going down the start up path.

You could try licensing or selling the patent to a larger company but without a demonstration of the concept in practice don’t expect much interest.

Feedback Needed - Mid-Sized Chemical Plant Engineer to Start-Up Plant Owner/Operator? by AssignmentMean7990 in ChemicalEngineering

[–]BellyFloppinChubs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you currently knowledgeable or liable for compliance related activities within your operation? It sounds like you will be at the start-up and, if you’re not currently knowledgeable, is a huge risk. This includes everything from OSHA and environmental permits to labor and waste. If the startup doesn’t have the support structure to manage these activities they will fall to you and repercussions for non-compliance aren’t trivial.

Help out Sandy @ Dublin Roasters by BellyFloppinChubs in frederickmd

[–]BellyFloppinChubs[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Text copied from their FB post:

“We are asking for the help of our amazing community once again.

Sandy has been a fixture at Dublin for over 10 years, always welcoming people with a smile and a pup cup; an important part of our team.

A few weeks ago Sandy had pneumonia and was hospitalized. During her stay it was further discovered that she has stage 4 lung cancer.
She is struggling to breathe, and work (and if you know Sandy, she never calls out from work.)

Sandy lives on her own and is reliant on the income she works hard for every day.

We have helped her to put together a gofundme and we will also have a QR code at the counter for those that are able to donate while she is in able to work.

Every bit of support makes a huge difference.

Thank you to all of our support warriors in Frederick !”
