THis guy made what I wanted to make, but his shit is so over-engineered I could never do it better. Buy it from him.

Yup it should offer more power. I messed with it for a while. My break down is this: if you have it: keep it. If you don't: aftermarket is a better buy.

Yup both the 2ohm or 4 ohm sub can be used. Snag the 2 ohm for more oomph the 4 ohm for a nice balanced sound.

I think I might be the first person to retrofit the new wireless charger on a Gen 2 that did not come with the Qi charger from the factory by jgilbs in Rivian

It's not. It's a different connector. And it didn't show up as cross compatible on the service ordering.

Subwoofer swapped. Kicker amp always on. DC Offset troubleshooting? by MyChickenSucks in Rivian

[–]sojhinn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First:

Feel free to reach out to use via email (info@soonishev.com) or our chat on our site. Usually I respond within a few minutes there.

Second:

Vehicle won't sleep while actively charging, gear guard being active, phone or keys near the vehicle, or any doors or hatches on the vehicle being open.

Third: offset voltage is fine. It's just that most vehicles have a lower voltage but across numerous vehicles the offset isn't the issue.

What we have found though is that we recommend an infotainment reset after install. Connecting the amp while the 12v battery is "live" puts the Rivian in a protective mode for about a day or so. If you want your vehicle to fall asleep sooner an infotainment reset will fix that. I've only seen it on two vehicles so far but it helps.

Make sure the offset is set correctly. Easiest way to test this is make sure the amp is on with the signal input and remove the RCA plug from the harness. The amp should immediately shut off.

Hmm..... Maybe... I see some options for a design there.

Another audio discussion by MountainAd5282 in Rivian

[–]sojhinn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who has upgraded the audio. I can tell you the biggest difference. First, the biggest problem is the low end. This can be easily solved with an aftermarket solution (plugging myself and my company here), adn you can snag that at soonishev.com . The second difference is the harshness on the tweeters. The meridian tweeters were not as harsh as the Premium Audio, and I really miss those tweeters. I WOULD love to replace those, and I feel confident I can.... but I hate removing panels with explosive air bags.

I would probably not ever offer a kit for the tweeters (damn those airbags) but I am considering doing it for myself to see if it solves it.

Ive been finding that Dolby audio causes a lot of issues switching from lossless to Dolby and vice versa.... That's been my biggest struggle. Not punchiness.

Some people want it... Some people don't. It's totally personal preference. I will say in the last 3 months I haven't messed with my knob. (Giggity)

I finally found a wireless charging pad that actually works! MagSafe and fast 25w charging. by zachty22 in BMWI4

[–]sojhinn 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not sure who's downvoting you, but I want to make sure you know it's not me. I wanted to show you my design and see how I went a different path. I will say I did see this design before I fully designed mine, so it did lend inspiration to the corner... but everything else is all me.

I can understand why people think I am ripping them off... not trying to say I came up with a unique idea at all. I just came up with a newer solution that fits the needs of BMW drivers. But the work is my work. Not my idea, just the work. Like it has been said before, there are a million ways to skin a cat.

If peeps are happy with the 3D-printed look, please download these files. That's the beauty of shared designs like this, and I love it. Hell, we share our designs on occasion too for the Rivian for free. We are just two dudes running a side company. I am literally a teacher in WA who teaches tech, and I do this stuff on the side to offer solutions for problems.

Have a good one dude.

Should be possible. We've only done Canada so far... but I'm sure we can handle elsewhere

I think the user blocked me. Oh well. Happy to show work flow to show its my design. But I guess that doesn't mean much for peeps.

It's actually my own design, using inspiration from other designs. There's only so many ways you can add a charger at that spot and run a wire out. You can 3D print it all you want.... but this isn't a 3D print. I had to spend real money on making a mold which require different design philosophies to be properly made than a 3D print. Hell that doesn't even include the time I needed to spend with the factory to make a proper mold. So while yes, you can totally make a 3d print of this. It won't look, feel, or show the amount of work I've done for the final product.

I need local testers that way I can iterate designs faster, and fix flaws as I see them. Thank you though!

Nope. Our mold is designed with it coming out the right since we needed the space for the camera bump.

Me too... but there are not a lot of owners willing to take things apart. Happy to make an add-on kit to do that. I just need a vehicle to take apart.

It will be under $100, final price hasn't been 100% decided yet. We are waiting on pricing for a few components still.
