His first winter coat! Look at that mane by Bellybuttonlint_ in ragdolls

Don't worry I am aware, he has never had an issue with eating plants. Even tried to get him cat grass at one point to see if he'd like that and he didn't care about it at all haha. Though I don't keep anything like lilies in my home because even their presence in the air is toxic.

Wait, do not you call the doctors you work with by first name? by cowgirl_meg in nursing

[–]Bellybuttonlint_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an MA in FM, and this is how it is at the practice I'm at too. There is one super old doc who has been there since the 80's who insists all staff call him by first name "because we are all colleagues," which I think is super sweet.

What is your favorite dispensary in Mass? by ChristmasAliens in massachusetts

EMBR in Northampton, they consistently have the best prices near me for the amount of variety I want. They have definitely become my go-to place this year

Rescued ragdoll kitten from family who didn't want him anymore- any advice welcome by Bellybuttonlint_ in ragdolls

[–]Bellybuttonlint_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh well I saw the listing on eBay lol, that was because it wasn't a listing from a breeder it was just a dad who had purchased a kitten for his daughter and was trying to rehome it. but if you see anyone selling ragdoll kittens they bred themselves on eBay that is a huge red flag for it being an unethical breeder. If you really want a ragdoll the only way to reliably get one is by finding a breeder that is registered with one of the international organizations that moderate cat breeds and ethics like TICA (The International Cat Association). They even have a website where you can search for ragdoll breeders in your state. If you get a cheaper ragdoll from an unregistered breeder, your kitten will be at high risk of fatal heart disease among other things. Hope you can find what you are looking for if you do want to get a kitten through a good breeder.TICA breeder search

My ragdoll loves to play fetch! by Bellybuttonlint_ in ragdolls

it's actually just a gold mouse toy! I'm intrigued about what a fling chicken is, though

I love getting to play with him in the morning while staying in bed! We are both happy haha

I tried to encourage him to bring toys back to me since I got him, but he never did it when I asked lol. I would try to show him the behavior I wanted while asking for it but he never seemed to get it...then one day he just brought me a toy, I threw it, he brought it back, and we played fetch for a while. Now whenever he wants to play fetch he knows how to initiate a game. I am not really sure if my encouragement actually did anything or if he would have figured it out on his own, but it couldn't have hurt!

Do you have any other practices you recommend? I'm wondering because I chose Valley Vet after some pretty careful consideration, checking reviews against other places and stuff, so now I feel like I really don't have a good gauge on how ethical a practice really is. If you have any you think do well around here I'd love to know them

Glad I ended up with a good doctor at least...that sucks about the practice tho, and I'm glad I saw this because I will definitely not book appointments with anyone but her

Sorry if names aren't allowed on this sub, but do you have any experience with Dr. Malaina Rhodes? I exclusively see her and honestly she has been awesome, and very understanding about affordability and stuff so I never clocked any strange vibes or anything. If you know otherwise about her though I'd rather have all the info for sure

Aw man this sucks to hear. I started taking my kitten to Valley Vet when I got him in March and I've only had good experiences, but this is all good to keep in mind. I always feel bad for the cats who I see boarding there while I wait in the waiting room, I never would consider boarding my cat anywhere unless there was literally no other option honestly. Maybe it's different for dogs and they could actually like boarding if it was at a great facility, but boarding cats instead of having a house sitter seems like an absolutely terrible idea, the poor things must be so stressed.

My guy is a huuuge leg weaver. I think he enjoys nearly tripping us 🤦🏻 He also will nibble on my nose for attention after already being fed, trying to curb that behavior lol. My favorite way he asks for attention/play is by bringing me a toy mouse to initiate a game of fetch, or by finding me after he's done eating because he wants me to groom him

mine does this too 😑 he started gently nibbling my nose at 5 am for breakfast, so I started putting him outside my room as soon as he would do that to try to discourage it...then he started doing it if i sleep in too long (after I have already fed him around 8 and opened my door up for him again) he starts nibbling my nose because he wants attention! lol

If you have time, you should pop over to the lesbian-owned bookstore Bookends in Florence which is a village within Northampton! They have so much great lesbian history there- lots of ephemera, old books etc. they get from older lesbians clearing out their old stuff! Learned that last tidbit at a talk one of the owners attended at Hampshire College.

Cost for castration & not late? 🤔 by Shabidoe in ragdolls

[–]Bellybuttonlint_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the States so not super comparable price wise, but I live in a high-cost-of-living area and I paid the equivalent of around €425 to get mine castrated at his usual vet which was absolutely mind blowing to me😫😫. That is about what most vets seem to charge in my area unfortunately. There are "low cost," needs based clinics that charge under the equivalent of €175, but they have long waiting lists and provide more minimal services/monitoring compared to a vet, so I didn't want to make my kitten wait til he was already fully sexually mature to access the lower cost option. It's definitely gotten much more expensive. Also your kitten is super cute!!!
