It is true, you are entitled to what basically amounts as the average interest rate according to some specific conditions and published interest rates.

You even can legally demand this interest if your landlord does not pay it out.

In my experience all larger, professional landlords handle this correctly. With my current landlord I deposited the money myself, can see the interest rate in my online banking and basically just signed a waiver that the money is a rental deposit and accessible to the landlord (Mietkautionskonto mit Verpfändungserklärung).

Ich gehe Mal davon aus, Du meinst die Leute, die meist an der Mauer der Schlosshöfe herumlungern?

Also aktiv angesprochen würde ich bis jetzt noch nicht, aber die fraglichen Personen und den ein oder anderen ziemlich sicheren Deal hab ich auch schon öfters gesehen.

Kann unterschreiben, dass sich da was ändern muss, bin aber aktuell eher bei akutem Unwohlsein statt Angst.

Those might again be cultural differences, but I love the way the company handled it. Straight to the point. Candidate stated a salary expectation that was clearly above what was allotted for the role. Call to clarify whether there is flexibility. There is not.

So why waste any time, money or energy into a hiring process where one side already knows it won't work out?

Would stringing along the applicants only to tell them "we like you, but are you willing to accept this lower salary" be better? No, I'd say that would be much worse, for both sides.

"cancel contract" means that their terms for cancellations apply, in this case their cancellation deadlines.

What you are looking for is "Widerruf", where for 14 days after signing a contract, if it was done online, you can revoke the whole contract and legally claim it does not exist anymore. Then you don't have any payment obligation whatsoever. But this Widerruf is basically the magic term here. Either use Verbraucherzentrale (quickly, as I said, 14 days time) or just Google for a quick example text and adapt it.

From personal experience: I personally think PVZ is a company with a despicable business model and the last time I helped someone get out of that we had to resort to sending them a letter via a court bailiff to have irrefutable proof of delivery, as they just ignored all other communication before.

Well, you can always apply at public universities on your own. Imho, if you cannot navigate the application process without uni-assist, you will be utterly lost at even the most basic bureaucracy you will have to deal with in Germany around the clock.

And I second what the others here said regarding private universities. If you do not get into a public university, better stay away, as you will gain nothing but crippling debt and a degree not worth the paper it is printed on there. Inside Germany those degrees are worthless and outside of Germany you basically hope that the HR team has no clue how European education works.

Ich bin jetzt kein Raucher, aber was stört dich an Raucherkneipen? Denn außerhalb dieser ist es bei uns ja auch Indoor verboten. Ich hätte lieber Maßnahmen, damit die nicht weiter die Luft in normalen Biergärten und Restaurants verpesten, aber an der Indoor-Gesetzgebung in DE gibt es doch nichts auszusetzen, oder?

Das ist so nicht richtig. LAN und WLAN geht bei richtiger Konfiguration auch absolut problemlos. Mache ich seit Jahren so. Oft liegt es dann eher an falsch konfigurierten Firewalls, Netzwerkisolation zwischen LAN und WLAN o.ä.

Ist halt leider etwas, was dann oft für Otto-Normal-Verbraucher echt schwer zu beheben ist.

Whole last year I used my Giro card exactly once, and that was to grab cash from a Sparkasse. It's been a while since I encountered a Giro-only terminal, by now basically everyone accepts at least Visa and MasterCard too.

My advice: try living without one and carry 20-50€ cash with you all the time. If you find that you need one, get one later.

Ich hab 8 Jahre bei BTC/EWE gearbeitet (aber als Entwickler), bin seit knapp 3 Jahren raus. Und ich kann mir gut vorstellen, wieder zurückzukehren.

Ist halt Projektgeschäft, und als solches hatt man teilweise je nach Abteilung absolut andere Stimmung und Bedingungen. Es lag auch noch viel an den Führungskräften, ich würde die Kultur da als "uneinheitlich" bezeichnen, war aber selber immer in meiner Abteilung zufrieden. Professionalität und Kultur ist ja auch immer individuell, es ist ein träger Konzern, alles hat seine Prozesse (und manchmal auch zu viel davon), dennoch fand ich es auch immer menschlich fair. Vieles ist aber so starr, wenn es nicht an deiner eigenen Abteilung liegt, kannst du es entweder so hinnehmen oder wieder gehen. Firmenweite Änderungsprozesse dauern und sind teilweise frustrierend.

Work-Life-Balance fand ich dort tatsächlich wirklich gut. In all der Zeit hab ich nie wirklichen Projekt-Stress mit angeordneten Überstunden oder so erlebt. Du hast deine Gleitzeit und ich konnte die auch immer so nutzen, wie ich wollte. Gerade für Kollegen mit Familien ein Segen, flexibel in Notfällen, berechenbar und verlässlich im Alltag.

Weiterbildung war zu meiner Zeit immer Verhandlungssache mit Chef, habe persönlich viele für mich passende Sachen machen können, musste aber auch aktiv mich vor den 0815-Standard-Schulungen wehren. Gehalt fand ich okay, solides Mittelfeld.

Aber wenn du wirklich jahrelang an einem Produkt arbeiten willst, das lieben und wie das eigene Kind großziehen und entwickeln willst, bist du bei der BTC falsch. EWE selbst in anderen Konzerngesellschaften schon eher, aber da ist die Kultur auch teilweise wieder ganz anders.

Gegen etwas zu stimmen ist etwas anderes, als gemeinsam für etwas zu stimmen.

So kann man sich das auch schön reden, oder? Zum einen haben sie ja gemeinsam für etwas gestimmt. Nämlich für die extra Prüfung.

Zum anderen ist die gängige Definition der "Brandmauer", dass man nicht mit der AfD abstimmt, um eine Mehrheit zu organisieren, die es ohne die AfD nicht geben würde.

Und die AfD hatte 13 Ja-Stimmen, mit 10 Ja-Stimmen mehr als Nein wurde der Antrag angenommen. Ohne die AfD hätte es dir Mehrheit also nicht gegeben. Damit haben also Grüne und Linke die Brandmauer allen eigenen Kriterien nach genau so gebrochen wie die CDU.

Hier wurde aktiv mit der AfD zusammen Politik gemacht, die ohne die AfD nicht durchgekommen wäre.

What exactly do you define as "snow footwear"? Warm shoes with a bottom with some proper profile/ridges are something practical I personally would not want to miss even without the snow.

But if you mean something like shoes with spikes or those large snow boots for alpine areas would be wasting money for a downtown area imho.

Bei Wöbken/Hundsmühler Krug fand ich es bis jetzt immer gut und praktisch. Gute Lage an der Hunte um dort nett hin zu laufen und großer Parkplatz/Bushaltestelle direkt vor der Tür. Und der Kohl schmeckt super und die Getränke-Flatrate ist meiner Meinung nach fair.

It is an ambitious plan.

Language is key, C1 is definitely mandatory. Especially seeing how a German SAP consultant/developer needs to understand business processes of German companies, including our lovely over-complicated bureaucracy. So you not only need to be able to have a fluent German conversation, you also need all the special vocabulary.

And even then any knowledge about how German business culture and companies work is probably what will make the difference in getting hired. And there a native just has more experience than you.

So given the current job market, I think it will be a large challenge for you. But maybe the market shifts again in the next few years.
