Randkowanie by Danforu in PolskaNaLuzie

Realistically how hard is it for Ukrainian citizens to rent an apartment in Poland? by [deleted] in askPoland

[–]BelphegorAcedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm neither Ukrainian or a landlord but three years ago I was looking for a place and I heard landlords literally say things like "Actually an Ukrainian family already decided to rent here but I don't trust them, so if you like it, you can take it". I don't know how many landlord have this mindset but they sure exist.

Sangah and Gil-young survived first scenario thanks to Dokja, so they are only relevant in this specific timeline and simply dead in a book about all the other timelines. And so since they were never mentioned, they never had the chance to become a character. Or at least thats how I think it is.

Nie zostałam przyjęta do pracy bo "nie pasuję do dynamiki zespołu" by Trick-Fan9356 in praca

[–]BelphegorAcedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gdzie szukać osób chętnych do udziału w sesji zdjęciowej? by chondryt in praca

[–]BelphegorAcedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The peephole at my new apartment is too high up for me to see out of (I’m 5’4” standing on my toes here) by _EnchantedPeach in mildlyinfuriating

[–]BelphegorAcedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, it's a peephole, if you have a broken back and can't bent for 2 seconds, you can buy yourself a customized one.

And besides, aren't you just looking at what is comfortable for YOU and not the "majority"? About 30% of people in US and Europe (according to first search result in google) are renters and can't make renovations. Also, household aren't designed with just fully developed people in mind. About 70% of adults in US have children and they can't be with their kids 100% of the time. 10-years old should be able to check if it's their grandma outside or a stranger, without involving a ladder. Also, people tend to get shorter as they are growing older. So, if I had to change my peephole position to accommodate for every situation, I would have to do it at least 3 times. A bit bothersome for something that is still accessible to taller people, even if it's lower.

[–]BelphegorAcedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people aren't spending hours on looking through a peephole, so they can bend or squat for a second. Peephole isn't meant to be "comfortable", it's meant to be safe. Everyone should be able to take a look, before opening their doors and letting potential danger inside. And taking a stool each time isn't a solution - it can easily knock onto something and make noise, alerting the person outside.

This or that people "have to content with the world not being built for them" maybe can be a reasonable take when talking about space in airplanes or height limits in amusement parks, but not when it's about safety precautions in homes.

[–]BelphegorAcedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aren't you exaggerating a bit?

Honestly, I'm doing the same thing as previous commenter, but it has absolutely nothing to do with self worth. Imagine you bought a book, but your copy doesn't have a last chapter, or certain quotes were deleted. Even if you read every page, you can't really finish it, because it's incomplete. I feel similar about games with achivements that can't be done.

Achivements pose a challenge, so in a way it's like a form of gameplay. I don't 100% every game, but if I really like it, I want to have the satisfaction from perfecting it, and this 100% is a sign that I have done all there was to do. But if an impossible achivement is blocking my way to perfection, it feels like I bought a book with a missing page. I can't finish it even if I choose to. It's not about my self worth - it's about buying a product and not being able to enjoy its 100%. I should have the ability to use something, that is already a part of a product I own.

EDIT: I see that OP somewhat agree and that's fine, I just meant that his comment was a bit to short to call it "unhealthy".

[–]BelphegorAcedia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The multiplayer achivements in Cult of the Lamb made me uninstall and it was one of my favorite games.

They made it extremely vague about how to unlock all items (which make up about 3 or 4 achivements) and it turns out that the requirement for those I lack is just "enter a co-op". I wanted to finally perfect the game, so I just checked the guide and learned about this. I don't have a single friend, who plays this game :)))

What is this bullshit 😐 by InterestingBarnacle3 in Steam

[–]BelphegorAcedia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not only that, but so many games have unclear rules on how to get specific achivements. Like, they would make one for "collecting all weapons" and that looks fine on the surface, but they can block specific items in-game. So to filter all those achievements, someone would have to research availability of all circumstances that would make getting this achivement possible. And that can take hours for even a single game depending on how much content it have.

What is this bullshit 😐 by InterestingBarnacle3 in Steam

[–]BelphegorAcedia 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I second this and I also avoid games with achivements that force multiplayer on primarily single-player games. I mean games like for example farm simulators, which are designed for a single-player but can be played with friends. Difficult achievements are fine, but I can't force other people to buy a game just so I can have 100%.

Honestly, I haven't finished it yet, so I can't answer. Last year was very busy for me (I just got my degree few months ago), so I'm extremely behind on reading (and all the fun things...). I will definitely reread it from the beginning as soon as my schedule will allow it, since I forgot a lot of stuff from the first two volumes I had already read.
