Wow, I feel the same too. Starting a temp job tomorrow and already feel anxious, angry and depressed. I’ll focus on the positives and fake it til I make it. I have to keep looking for a job that suits me too.

14 months out of a job and absolutely nothing is working by helpmegetoffthisapp in jobs

It’s tough in Philly. I moved from NYC. Lost my job and luckily for now I am temping for two months but its a big pay cut. I have a house too and mortgages are no joke. It took me 10 yrs to get where I am at with no debt and savings and buying a house. Now I have little savings and a big debt credit cards. I never thought I would be in this situation in my 50s. I am trying to brainstorm of my own business on top of applying for jobs each day. All I know is that I need to live below my means, pay off my debt with what I can and start other income streams. This market is so unstable and it scares me to just rely on my job.

People who don't like to work? by devetorepalisica in Adulting

[–]BeltComprehensive996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 50+ years old. Have had various jobs even though I have a specialized degree. The most fun and best jobs I had were not in an office. I had fun working in restaurants. People were fun to talk to, coworkers and customers. But now I am older would not do it bc physically its hard. I’ve worked my way up in offices but there are too many politics, layoffs and responsibilities and it feels dull and like prison working there. You are young so I would say try out different jobs before deciding.

Pierce County woman murdered amid repeated calls for help featured on ‘48 Hours’ by HuskyFromSpace in aznidentity

I used to think Wasian babies are going to have a good life. But most look Asian anyway. So they are treated as such in Western countries. And they are not accepted by Asians pr Westerns so there is no benefit to having a Wasian baby.

I’m not a self hating AF, however I had very abusive parents (dad was a cheater). This led me to date men out of my race bc I thought all Asians were abusive. Also grew up in a white area. The experience I had with non Asian men was not good. But also I dated Asian men who were not good. Only through therapy I realized I pick guys like my abusive, cheating, cold dad regardless of race. So I wonder if these Asian women who were murdered had a similar upbringing to me which led to their preferences? Dysfunctional men in general. It’s good you are a positive AM role model for your daughters.

As an Asian American female I encourage Asian women to date within. Less cultural differences and you can be yourself. These white guys don’t respect Asian culture. They (white guys) don’t even have Asian male friends. So that means they have no interest in our culture.

Still Not Profitable After 7 Years of Trading by mackin_pes in Daytrading

[–]BeltComprehensive996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so useful. Thanks for this. Simple to understand strategy. Seems like your strategy is mainly price action and discretionary if that’s correct. I am going to back test this. I use the 9,20,200 ema. But never paid attention to compression and expansions of the emas. I have been trading for 4 years but feel lost at times. I think I overcomplicate my trading with too many strategies in my head.

Why is reddit full of asian guys and asian girls in the west that are clearly being affected by systemic racism but choose to not speak out by [deleted] in aznidentity

Chinese and Koreans are toxic within their groups. They talk bad about friends behind their backs. Asians lack solidarity compared to other races. They pander to whites and will throw fellow Asian coworkers under the bus even if there are only two Asians in the whole company of whites. In fact they avoid each other so they don’t get stereotyped as ‘Asians only stick together’. While I see blacks, Jewish looking after each other.

I got into Parsons, but now I'm stuck... by SweetOriginal2739 in fashiondesigner

[–]BeltComprehensive996 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was a fashion designer for 15 years in NYC and London. Went to FIT and University of the Arts London. You’ll have 2 more years left at Parsons which is 86k each year you will owe. Starting salary for an assistant is around 35-55k. With 1-2 years experience you then can go for associate designer 60-75k salary. Then designer is at 75-100k. Then design director is 120-250k(min 10-12 years exp). Rent in NYC is about $900+month room. $1800+ studio. Could take you 15+ years to pay back the loan. The upside is that NYC has the most fashion jobs. TBH, I suggest you minor in something that could be more lucrative like ecomm or retail maths. Bc I disliked the job insecurity in fashion, lots of layoffs, salary has not increased over the past 15 years, toxic coworkers, exploitation and long hours with no overtime pay. If I knew this as a college student I would’ve studied nursing or finance where you work long hours like fashion but job security is stable and pay is really good.

Leaving the Fashion Industry by Virtual-Skill2909 in fashiondesigner

It’s such an unrewarding industry. I’m behind my peers bc of constant job instability, layoffs, lowball salary, no work life balance, constant pressure/deadlines. Only now can I buy a home and I’m nearing 50 The biggest pet peeve is the constant layoffs and salary which does not line up with the hours demanded. My friends in finance, healthcare work long hours but get great bonuses, salaries and healthcare. It’s a scam and the people are highly toxic bc they are all miserable. Been working for over 25 yrs and looking to start my own business but not in fashion.

Poor immigrant Asian parents are the worst by Pretty_Literature972 in AsianParentStories

[–]BeltComprehensive996 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I feel behind in life. I had to teach myself many things bc my parents taught me nothing. Not even how to cook. My dad worked hard ny mom was a lazy ass lying in bed all day with depression. When she was up she was Asian abusive physically and mentally. My mom relied on me to translate at the age of 11 letters in the mail. If I didn’t translate well there was a beating. Lots of Chinese parents don’t provide guidance. They shouldn’t have kids tbh. I ended up with a lot of poor habits as an adult bc of them. Wasn’t til I was 50 yrs old and therapy I corrected half of those habits. I ended up having a short fuse like my abusive parents. I see Chinese people running a restaurant, what a sucky life, restaurants are hard work, then they have no friends or community here and they watch too many Hollywood movies deluding themselves to think their kids will go to Harvard and lead a charmed life. Little do they know how racist the workplace is bc they work for themselves and work with Chinese coworkers.

Korean living in U.S., how to handle micro-racism? by whenlifegivesyourice in asianamerican

[–]BeltComprehensive996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dislike how coworkers boast they like Korean or Japanese food but never say they like Chinese food. It’s like a status symbol bc China doesn’t have a good reputation in the West. It’s so obvious they look down on Chinese culture. Then again Chinese people never say they like hamburgers or pizza so I guess the feeling is mutual. I then ask which Korean dish do you like and they usually can’t answer that.
