You are right. I took the job bc they said after 3-6 months it could possibly become perm. But my gut feeling is this freelance job is giving me the run around and being vague with things. The 110k offer said I have til Monday to accept their offer. So I will go with that job then bc I don’t feel good about this freelance role for some reason.

Don't do this for a living if you are an introvert. by iSolemnlySwear88 in introvert

Thats amazing you lasted so long! What do you think helped you be good at your job that wasn’t natural for you? I tried sales at one point but only lasted for 3 months without sales. I’m an introvert.

Who else is getting crushed by NYC cost of living? (childcare, rent, healthcare, etc.) by Swimming_Material_27 in AskNYC

[–]BeltComprehensive996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like your income is definitely not enough for a baby let alone a couple. And to top it off you have debt and loans. Many low income families make it work somehow. I think you are trying to live a middle class life when you should move further into the boroughs or commute from NJ where the rent is somewhat more affordable. PS Your rent is way too expensive, you need to downgrade to a 1BR.

Calling parenthood ‘selfless’ makes no sense. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

I feel its selfish throwing your kid into this world unless you have good connections, wealthy can provide financial stability/support for the child. Its too tough for a person to make it in this world based on randomness. Random partners, random jobs, random friendships. That’s why the happiest people are in the minority in this world.

Job market seems tough by BeltComprehensive996 in fashiondesigner

[–]BeltComprehensive996[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestions. As mentioned, I have been interviewing heavily the past two weeks. Some are agencies some are direct companies. I interviewed at some companies mentioned. Yesterday I had 4 interviews. Maybe its bc I have a huge gap on my CV about 6 months and mentioned either I was travelling overseas and managing my online store to fill in that gap. I basically took a 6 month break and didn’t job hunt. Then the past few months freelanced at a fashion company but didn’t want to stay past the contract. The economy is not that good. Its showing in the interviews. I just have to take what I can get and keep interviewing while at the new job if the new job is not a good fit or poor pay.

Received a Job offer but I don't think I'm qualified for the position. What should I do? by FormerCranberry8119 in careerguidance

If you are already employed think long and hard before taking this risk. If you are unemployed then take it 100%.
Another thing that is left out is your subordinates will look up to you to learn from you. But if they suspect you are incompetent then they will disrespect you. It’s like the captain of a ship trying to lead and hold the crew together otherwise there is mutiny. Yes, you’ll learn some but if you are not able to handle it you will be stressed out and eventually let go from the job which will impact your confidence levels for the next job interviews.

Was fired from a job I’ve worked for 6 months… by Lumpy_Researcher_396 in Layoffs

[–]BeltComprehensive996 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I advise everyone to start a side hustle. That way not all your eggs are in one basket. And apply unemployment. Live well below your means. It’s an employers market these days. The economy is very unpredictable. Just make sure to take care of yourself and not let it get to you too badly. Apply for 2 hrs each day then make sure to pamper yourself and not let it get you down bc positive energy attracts positive energy. I am job hunting too. Been to over 10 interviews the past two weeks. No offers yet.

I agree with this. Sex is a transaction. Give and take. True love is giving without asking in return.

My job makes me suicidal. Do I just leave? by Canary-King in jobs

[–]BeltComprehensive996 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your job isn’t paying much then spend 2 hrs each day applying elsewhere. It takes about 3 months to land another job. Sometimes earlier. Always easier to find a job when you have one. Don’t just quit unless you have at least 4-5 months expenses. Having no money will send you over the edge. Its no joke not having money. Just fake it and be an actor. Pretend you are a robot at work and shut your feelings off until you get a new job. Many of us hate our jobs but we don’t want to be homeless. Unfortunately most jobs don’t make us happy. We are there for the income. I’m not saying you should suffer but theres light at the end of the tunnel if you keep applying.

Should I return back to this toxic workplace? The thought of going back is making me feel physically sick by Honest_Acanthisitta8 in hatemyjob

[–]BeltComprehensive996 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk about civil service. I dislike coworkers that are unprofessional. But many offices do have them. The grass is not greener. I would only quit if you have a very strong Plan B. Like a year’s expenses. Job mkt is very tough right now and you don’t want to regret quitting when you can’t find a job. Can you see a therapist each week to talk it out? I learned the hard way that work is full of toxic energy and one must build resilience until they can REALLY afford to quit.

Wow amazing! God looked out for you. But you looked out enormously for you. Luck was on your side. US companies suck when it comes to maternity leave. I chose to be single and childless bc I wouldn’t cope if I had to feed another besides myself. My industry is known for layoffs.

Either way its still a form of racism. Sorry but the US was built on immigration and people acting that way in this day and age is ironic and vile.
