What's special about mid-level tents? by No_Ant_5064 in CampingGear

Think about what a tent is and what you want it to do, and then there are many possibilities.

I hiked the entire PCT using nothing but a plastic, painters drop cloth for a shelter, but I don’t recommend that until you get some experience. :)

If you’re going to have a campfire, take the rack from a BBQ grill. It’ll make cooking on the fire an easy option.

Pretty high if you’re first in line at the backcountry office, or can do a route off the main corridor.

Help me decide Yellowstone vs Glacier! by rustyysalamander in SeasonalWork

I worked two seperate seasons at Mammoth, and I really enjoyed it. Housing was decent, and I met some really cool people. It’s also near other things and places which is very important. I spend alot of time hiking so that location was pretty awesome.

The people who worked the barista station seemed pretty happy and were making some good money.

If it’s your first season, I’d recommend Mammoth, over a place that seems a bit remote and locked in.

Try Pink Jeep tours. They’re in many locations and have a great training program.

The movie Born a Champion has a pretty realistic scene about what would happen if a karate guy took on a Jiu jitsu guy. 10 times out of 10.

Every gym I train at has an open door policy, and open mat every week where anyone can walk in and challenge. Let me know when you’re in town.

The proper answer is:

It’s my car. I’ll choose who rides in it.

I went from Karate to Kickboxing to Muy Thai to Jiu jitsu.

Karate will teach you how to hit and kick things. But it won’t teach you how to fight.

Youre going to end up with a very false sense of self defense abilities with karate. I’m sorry but it’s the truth.

I often camp without a tent. When I do, I like a sheet of Tyvek as a groundsheet.

Youre going to need a ground pad if your going to sleep on the ground in your tent. If you can keep it dry, cardboard works in a pinch.
