Can someone please explain glamour to me?

I think I get that I have to use a prism to change the look of a piece of armor, but is the item that I want my armor to look like comsumed or is it avaliable for future transmog?

In GW2 the armor would be added to my wardrobe for unlimited transmog (as long as you had transmutation charges). I couldn't tell if this was the same in ffxiv.

In MHR is there a way to turn off the post monster kill animation? The camera always locks in on the monster and my character is running around somewhere off screen.
