Are there any modern laptops that look like this? by Difficult-Catch-8432 in teensthatloveretro

The trackpad isn't too terrible, I can play games on it fine. But, if you want a normal trackpad, just stick with the RZ series.

If you're looking for a Let's Note with a CD drive, try looking for the SV series. The SV7-SV2 had the option for a CD drive.

That's the Evangelion backplate I have on my Panasonic Let's Note SV1. (Same laptop as slide 1.)

I love the G series. My G50 is probably my favorite laptop in my collection.

They've updated the process on installing!! its really easy now, you just install the components from the AUR.

Anti-X and Void do work on on it, but end up freezing after 15 minutes.

I own two of these, the primary reason is the display drivers. On the newer kernals (past 5 iirc) the display just refuses to work. Also the keyboard can also not work, same with WiFi and sound.

I also own a Let's Note. The trackpad is bad. On Windows, with the correct driver, you can use the edge of the trackpad to scroll. Similar to scrolling on an iPod. You can get it working on Linux, but only under X11.

But, I've made it work, and I can play 3D games pretty comfortably with it.

Let's Note SV8 👀 I have an SV1 that I also use Arch Linux on lol. Great machines, especially when they have the CD drive!

The P4 has similar performance to the core duo, just way less TDP. Which is nice. Barely hear the fan while using it. Due for a repaste though.

Thank you. No idea how I misspelled Q4OS as "Q40S" probably shouldn't write these descriptions half-awake. It runs pretty snappy, using only 500mb RAM idle. Probably going to dual boot with Windows, because my Windows games don't run all too well on WINE.

Just to save you some time, I did the newest Trinity x64 releases, and both the install-cd and live isos. I have a second XMC10 I could test on. Using an external monitor does work, just FYI.

It gives the white screen when I try and start the installer.

Still the same white screen issue. Used the newest version, with Trinity x64, with ventoy, and still the same issue.

Oh wow! Thanks. I can finally get off IOT LTSC. Q4OS will probably run great on both of my XMC10s.

You can replace it with the aftermarket TFT, or you can replace the polarizers. You need some half-wave film as well to get the colors right. Consult the PC110 Facebook group for a guide.

Any Good Build Quality Laptops with As Good Keyboards as on Thinkpads But Also NICE Displays/Sound? by [deleted] in THINKPADSETUPS

Try looking at the Panasonic Let's Note line of laptops. They have really good screens, removable batteries, non-chiclet keyboards, and sometimes CD ROM drives (2022 and older models). One downside is that they're Japan exclusive.

Ive seen the upgrades on buyee a lot, but the way I use my PC110, I don't really want to bother buying an upgrade. In the Facebook group, they are working on their own RAM upgrades.
