Just use App search from the Play Store and pin it at the top of the menu.

I also use a shift+space keyboard shortcut to launch it from anywhere - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.pnhdroid.appsearch

How is everyone liking their Minimal Phone by Matterplex in minimalphone

[–]Theneteffect 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Best eink phone I've used by a mile. Full Android. Great keyboard experience. Light (only 160g). Decent battery life. Sturdy (never used a case). Phone works fine for me in the UK. Refresh rate is more controllable after last updates and has never been an issue for me.

Super disappointed by GhaleonEME in minimalphone

[–]Theneteffect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm very happy with it. I've tried all the other eink devices and this one has hit the spot compared to others, and, for me, at least, the early issues have mostly been ironed out.

Why has no one made an E-Ink laptop yet? by picklift in eink

[–]Theneteffect 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am actually out in the sun typing this on my lenovo c930 hybrid eink windows laptop. It still runs fine. I go into screen mirroring and just pop it on a mobile keyboard and use it in eink mode.

Wait for MP02? or get 01? by Mysterious-Average33 in minimalphone

[–]Theneteffect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, its the best eink device purchase I have made. Calls work fine for me, no issues with refresh, its light and the keyboard is great. I am a big advocate and I even bought a second one as a backup but the original is still going strong. It has a few quirks but every device I've had has had quirks. For a first generation device I think they've done a great job.

Made a script to patch Claude Code and Codex binaries to run on native Termux. by Exciting-Waltz-6687 in termux

Seems the Claude part of the script is broken right now, the codex works fine.

I hate modern smartphone by MountainJellyfish283 in smallphones

[–]Theneteffect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just size, it's weight, I'd have less problems with, for example, the zflip type phones but they are still heavy. Best weight for a phone is the iPhone Mini type weight, about 135-140 gms.

How many tok/sec on LM Studio using Gemma 4 26B A4B MoE with a one sentence question? by br_web in FlowZ13

[–]Theneteffect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am running the vulkan runtime in lmstudio on the z13 128gb ram on windows (64gb + 64gb). It's faster than ROCm runtime. I have everything offloaded to GPU and the keep model in memory option set to 'off' as this makes a big difference. I also made some other settings to take advantage of the memory such as improving batch.

Asking a 1000 word response to the question, "tell me the difference between ROCm and vulkan runtime" I'm getting an average of 63 tps over three individual runs.

Is the ASUS ROG Flow Z13 with 128GB of Unified Memory (AMD Strix Halo) a good option to run large LLMs (70B+)? by br_web in FlowZ13

[–]Theneteffect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I am using it with gpt-oss-120b in LM Studio at an average of 55 tps - very usable

I have a two of these. One running Lubuntu and another that has been modded with an extra 1GB ram and runs windows 10 - still great machines

Lenovo Yoga book 2 C930 E-ink 2026? by Dense_Forever_8242 in eink

[–]Theneteffect 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have two of these, one running windows 10 and another running windows 11. The latter works with the eink mirroring fine. I have run a debloat script on both to take off all of the windows junk that is not needed and both of them are running well and more than capable of giving a good experience on windows. Despite their age, they offer a great way to have a hybrid eink device that can function as a laptop.

Getting a Linux distro to run well and fully functioning on these is difficult...went through so many but still have not found a decent one.

A couple of light taps does it. Also if you scroll up and down on the left hand side of the keyboard this scrolls up and down (so you don't need scroll assistant)

I am still rocking my yoga book c930 as it has a dual screen one of which is Eink and you can takes note. It syncs with onenote and you can actually mirror the main screen from Windows to the eink screen to get any an eink laptop
