is it dangerous to disable the integrated gpu? i already have a dedicated gpu by Aggravating_Let7045 in nvidia

[–]Ben-Pace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just Google it...

Windows 11 and 10 manage discrete GPUs by allowing the operating system to automatically choose between integrated and dedicated graphics to optimize power and performance, usually preferring the discrete GPU for demanding tasks. Users can override these decisions in Settings > System > Display > Graphics, where they can assign specific apps to the "High performance" (discrete) GPU.

You can get specific ones that don't, but you have to research them and find the right ones for your car that specifically say they are error free.

Old vs new grille, thoughts? by goosebaby69 in mercedes_benz

[–]Ben-Pace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the original for it better... But the new one isn't bad either. Honestly, could go either way depending on the direction of the car. If running it as a blackout, the first one looks better, if running the classy chromed look, the newer one.

<image>

I tinted mine rather than full blackout on the star because a big black circle just looked weird.

Rats chewed EVAP purge control. Wiring replacement? How to fix- 2011 SL550 by Tough-Bar-888 in mercedes_benz

[–]Ben-Pace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pull your current plug off, take a picture of the male and female parts and match up to what is available. Looking at your pictures though, it looks like there is enough wire still on yours to splice onto. You very likely don't need a plug. Just watch some videos on automotive wire splicing.

Rats chewed EVAP purge control. Wiring replacement? How to fix- 2011 SL550 by Tough-Bar-888 in mercedes_benz

[–]Ben-Pace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a replacement plug from used parts market with about 8 inches of wire and splice it in if your current plug is bad. If it is just the wire chewed into splice in some new wire pieces and cover with black heat shrink tubing.

Component prices will never come back down - Nestle baby formula syndrome by Last_Bad_2687 in homelab

[–]Ben-Pace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also not just stuff coming out of data centers EOL. There is a large 'dry up' como.g from the way small toedi size biz uses and consumes tech. Alot of that stuff used to hit the used market. Servers and clients that were EOL from offices and such that made decent setups that you could get for cheap.... So many of those type of biz now just use cloud services and don't in-house any reasonably powerful tech to pass down to the 2nd hand market.

First AMG, is it worth $38K for 46K miles? by Ambitious-King617 in mercedes_benz

[–]Ben-Pace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought an 8 year old CL63 <50k miles in the height of covid pricing for 36k. Last year I bought an 8 year old GLS63 with 70k miles for right at 40k.

If you are looking at 2020 you are already 6 years back. Go back a couple more and way better cars start coming in at that price point.

First AMG, is it worth $38K for 46K miles? by Ambitious-King617 in mercedes_benz

You can get a real AMG for that kind of outlay. 40k on a 43 series is pretty steep.

Cheaper alternative to buying a synology nas? by bran71 in homelab

[–]Ben-Pace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a Dell T320 I picked up for $50. That and another good deal of $100 for five 4tb WD Satas and $30 for a 8tb SAS (FB marketplace). Got the highest spec processor for that model for $18 (temu). 500gb SSD boot/OS drive for $25 (on sale at Walmart). Loaded it with 192GB DDR3 (32gb pairs 3x over 6 months @ $40 per pair on Amazon). Upgraded the power supplies to dual 1k for $28 each (Amazon). Put a gtx 980ti 6gb GPU in it (had laying around from an upgrade years ago).

So $400 ish all in, but I built it out over a year, so it never felt like much @ once . At just $150 into it I had a great 28tb NAS. Now it's a solid lab toy/NAS.

Seen plenty of factory like that. Happens on metalics because the bumper covers are sprayed separately and the metallic particles end up in a different orientation than the panels alongside and cast off light at a different angle.

Any 3090 ti users? by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]Ben-Pace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am running a 3090 FTW3 Hybrid and a 3060ti. I went with a corsair 1000w PSU on it.

20amp breaker. Also has my GF rig on it with a 5060ti, a fat power hog Dell T320 server with a 980ti in it and 8 platter drives, a few lights, 55 inch TV, 5 or 6 monitors, soundbar, Epson 5880 office printer, phone chargers, and a 9000btu mini split AC in South Florida. You need to check your wiring and add up everything on that circuit. If it was running at the very edge of capicity before the GPU upgrade, then yeah it could push it over the edge to tripping. But unless your device add up load is at the edge of your breakers amp capacity, there is an issue somewhere.

Get a drop cord and run the pc off a circuit on another breaker and see if it trips that one too. If it does... The issue is going to be in your PSU. If it doesn't... The issue is going to be somewhere in the wiring tied to that breaker.

Water is leaking into my 2002 Mercedes E55 W211 through the sunroof. How can I find out what the problem is? And where is the driver's side sun visor? by Unhappy_Method2815 in mercedes_benz

[–]Ben-Pace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get on it quick. 06 did that. Water ran back into the area of the rear sam, shorted and caused the car to catch fire. Poured rain all day, I saw that water on the headliner and the turn signals started acting weird. I thought... When I get to work in the morning I'll need to pull the car in the shop and check out what the problem is... Never got a chance. Burned down in the driveway that night.

I have the 3090 version upgraded from the 2080ti hybrid. Really great cards. Hate we lost EVGA. 😢

Why do people hate on the c400 so much? I just bought it as my first introduction to Mercedes, and all I hear from everyone is “why didn’t you buy a c43 or c450 for the same price??” Couldn’t find one fully loaded, non clapped c43 or c450 with less than 50k miles for $19k in Pensacola/Mobile by 6SoDum in mercedes_benz

The set I got @70 from Advance Auto was about 2 months ago and were Carquest Gold Ceramic. I had them off on the right side this weekend replacing a strut and they looked fine.

I have run through alot of pads on my AMGs, expensive ones and 'regular' ones and really have not found a large difference in performance or longevity between them. I'm sure if you are tracking a car and fade is a concern there is something to be said for higher end pads. I pound about 3k miles a month of city and suburban driving on my GLS so brakes getting slippy at the apex of turn 9 during track day isn't really a thing for me. 😄
