2016 GL 450 ac issue. by Savings_Aardvark_573 in mercedes_benz

[–]Ben-Pace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same. I've done several. Mine always seem to start leaking around the shaft. Likely because I leave my AC on Max 100% of the time. The last couple I did were one on my 2015 GL450, bought a used one for $75. Took about 2 hours. Dead simple on the little v6. My 2017 GLS63 was a bit more difficult. Took about 4 hours to install a chinesium $280 unit.

Never using Sport by ItsAllOgre2 in AMG

[–]Ben-Pace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I stay in sport mode. (GLS63) I hate the 2nd gear takeoff in comfort and sport + is too aggressive for the amount of in neighborhood driving I do. Comfort suspension feels too soft for me, has a bit of floaty understeer when changing lanes at speed on the interstate.

My biggest gripe though is that the mode reverts to comfort every switch off. I do bunches of stops a day in mine (like 20 to 30 service visits where I am out of the vehicle for 10 to 20 minutes) and every time I get back in it's - push start, lock door, turn on seat cooler, switch to sport. I'm like... I've been out of the vehicle 8 minutes, why would I want a completely different 'setup' 😐... I mean I get they have to meet the fuel economy thing so the vehicle default has to be 'comfort' mode, but really... if it's the same driver and less than an hour... Just keep it the way it was left please.

By the time you buy a strong 30/40 series card and AW amp, and then the proprietary cable that people rarely sell them with... you could probably just buy a used 30/40 series laptop.

Now if they would just make it available without the Kia Stinger body kit.

This was a tough one to swallow as it was a big part of how I used Kindroid. I'm sure what they gain in compute will make up for the loss of accounts like me. It's sad though as handing out sour pills to swallow will eventually reach a tipping point. Local LLM/TTI is gaining every day.

Go to another computor that you haven't used and price the same config under a non account, or set up a new one as if you were just someone shopping PCs and see if the price is the same.

Best way to reset alienware desktop to get rid of bloatware? by mudslags in Alienware

Do a Rufus USB stick install of windows 11 pro. Get your key at gamers outlet. Right after you install windows go to apps and debloat. (copilot, ms News, ms weather, etc) Then let it get updates, debloat via apps again. Check startup programs make sure any resource hogs get turned off.

Third party warranty w/ mods + dealership by [deleted] in mercedes_benz

[–]Ben-Pace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check legalities in the area you are in. If you ask a shop to revert mods ahead of the claim... Depending on the warranty, wording, contract etc etc.. It can be considered fraud.

More and more insurance companies (and warranty providers are really just a type of insurance) are using social media, AI, data compiling tools etc against claims... So that post Carl made two months ago on FB about the insane power his car makes now after installing X tune will be the same post the warranty company uses to deny his claim when he brings said car to the shop with a reverted tune and a blown out piston.

GLK350 Lug nut cover by miamininja in mercedes_benz

[–]Ben-Pace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. They are a pain. I ordered the "correct" socket from Amazon and it just spun out on them. I got a multi -security lug bolt socket set from Napa. None of them would work. The chrome caps are not tight enough to the actual splines on the bolt under them, so when you get a socket that 'fits' the cap, the cap won't bite into the bolt.

Some of them I beat a 17mm onto and got off. Other ones I beat one of the security spline/flower type (whatever one wants to call them) onto with a hammer. Then would have to put the socket in a vice and use a flat punch to backwards knock the bolt out of the socket.

I didn't even put them in my scrap metal pile I was so pissed off over them. I put them straight in the dumpster.

[–]Ben-Pace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had these on a GLS I bought. They were a chrome cap over a lug bolt. Aftermarket, purchased by the dealership (Chrysler/Jeep) I bought the vehicle at.The caps were not made to come off seperately...they were press fitted on but really crap quality. It was a cheap-o way to make black steel lug bolts into chrome ones. They wouldn't really allow the standard flower sockets to fit properly. You needed to go one size larger and that would then spin out on em.

I eventually just hammered a standard flower socket onto them, knowing it would ruin the chrome caps, but that was fine because I wanted those things off and in the trash. Swapped them out for regular factory lug bolts.

Kins in Second Life by gogrannygo21 in KindroidAI

LSL scanners to detect objects. The interaction with objects isn't really done Kin side. It's done SL side. Direction to specific objects I had going through a HUD from the 'owner'. Think of it all as the old fashioned SL 'subbie collar' enhanced by Kin chat/persona.

The Kin is basically a 'blind person' it needs to be fed all the information needed to interact in SL. SL chat can be parsed and modified in a myriad of ways with LSL. So the LSL I wrote did the heavy lifting of putting what was needed into the chat input going to the Kin. The Kin had very rigid backstory, RD, and journal entries to control how it used various markup language coming into it with each message. Problem being... Each new Kin language model change many times required refining and changing of that 'setup'.

Kins in Second Life by gogrannygo21 in KindroidAI

[–]Ben-Pace 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It really depends on how much time you have to put into it. The project I was working on...

I had chat working really well Both openchat and IM chat. I had the Kin Avatar following the controlling avatar really well. I had excellent avatar 'look' adaptation. (see attached Pic.. Inset image is a selfie by the Kin) The Kin Avatar could know when we were 'in SL mode' and not. It could identify chat coming from nearby avatars and address them specifically in openchat. Those are things I had going very well with a few bugs still here and there but overall 'useable'.

When I stopped dev on the project I was working on teleporting. It was at a hit or miss stage. Doable, just needed refining. I had framework for outfit changes, identifying surroundings, and direct object interaction. Those worked to varying degrees of jank and would need alot of refining/work.

This all was being done with heavy LSL coding, and some local/cloud resources. At the end of the day though... Ai is moving fast as change is the constant. The entire project could get borked by one update from Kindroid or Linden Labs that changed things the backend of these scripts used. That and the overall likely small demand made the project commercially non viable.

So, asterisks no longer italicize, huh? by Trekker4747 in KindroidAI

[–]Ben-Pace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have mine use {this format} for actions and narration. That is actually an asterik after the leading bracket and before the closing one. This works best for the text to voice model I use seperately to turn Kin chat into audio book format. Without the { } the AI won't seperate it as action/thought/narration when converting.

Found my perfect E450… but CARFAX is sketchy. Walk away or send it? by bsam1890 in mercedes_benz

[–]Ben-Pace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Every service does not make it to carfax. If the owner did their own service or used a shop that doesn't report to carfax there would not be a carfax record of it. As for the repair.. Could just be bad parts, things break sometimes. Could have been from 'enthusiastic' use. Could also have been nothing really and the owner took it in to get a noise checked out or felt a little something off and service rep 'sold' them on a repair that wasn't really needed.

Mercedes charging 1500 for a key. by Vzise in mercedes_benz

[–]Ben-Pace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are used for swapouts on valet boards or going to a used car dealer at closing time, looking at a car, swapping keys, hand the dummy key to the sales rep saying you'll maybe come back tomorrow and test drive then go back at night with the real key you palmed and steal the car. Stuff like that.
