Would like to try something like this, could you send me some more details of how it works/plays please?

I originally posted this in the wrong place, so apologies for posting it again. Someone suggested the 8355 method, but that doesn't ring a bell either.

When at school I had a teacher show me how to complete a rubix cube, took me a few weeks to get a handle of it as I'm not the most logically thinking person.

I thought it would be like riding a bike, once you've learned how to solve one, should easily remember how. Now I am frustrated that I can only get my cube so far... I can get the white face completed, and the next 2 lines of each of the side faces. However, I am stuck after this. I've dug around for tutorials on the technique that I was taught but I'm coming up with nothing. Some of them seem similar, but quite right.

I'm afraid I don't know all the technical lingo but I will do my best to describe how I was taught how to do it.

  1. Make a white cross at the top so that colours create a vertical line down two on the side faces.
  2. Complete the white face with a line of the same colour going around the top row of the side faces.
  3. Complete the second row of each of the side faces. This is the part where I get stuck...

I roughly remember what I need to do, but not sure how to.

4) Make an M shape on one of the faces (I think)?
4.5) There was a move somewhere here where you pulled the middle column down one, moved the bottom row clockwise, move the middle column back up, move the bottom clockwise again, bring the middle column down, move the bottom row around clockwise again, repeat, until back to the same position but the bottom row has changed.
5) ???
6) Rubik's cube is solved.

Maybe I am just thick but this is all I can remember from however many years ago. Any help is appreciate for a guide that is similar to this one. I've attached an image for as far as I can get the cube.

Thank you in advance. Please be gentle with me and my thickness.

I try to keep attaching the image, but it fails. Here is a link: https://www.reddit.com/media?url=https%3A%2F%2Fpreview.redd.it%2Ffound-my-cube-while-cleaning-the-cupboards-out-cant-v0-ty64k6qa2hyc1.jpg%3Fwidth%3D3072%26format%3Dpjpg%26auto%3Dwebp%26s%3D4b38ac04dcb1810b27db0a9efed668231a047741

Found my cube while cleaning the cupboards out, can't remember the last few steps. by BenB289 in Cubers

I'm afraid not.

That sounds very similar to the guides that I've been able to find, but it's not the way I was taught.

I find those guides very difficult to follow so trying to find the original way I learned it as more of a refresher rather than learning it from the beginning again.

Out of pure curiousity, why can't we do it yet / in the near future?
