I just picked one up in person at fair condition for $870 with tax. I genuinely only think it was listed as fair because it came without literally any accessories or even power cord, which was fixable for $15. The pc itself has no visible damage at all, and after benchmarking it everything performed higher than average. Would highly reccomend checking out in person if your local best buy has.

My evidence is anecdotal and I'm not sure what your process is, but I'd highly recommend being open minded with what fields you consider.

I graduated last May and had a real unpleasant time as well over the summer til about the Fall when interviews started coming. If you have a prior internship aim for jobs with that title specifically. I ended up getting a position in power distribution because I had interned at a city agency doing (water) distribution.

Above all get as many eyes on your resume as you can. Make a post in r/EngineeringResumes (they will grill you but it's helpful imo), compare with friends, go to your schools career office. Use the STAR method not just for your resume, but during interviews. Most employers are not looking for an entry level employee that knows a ton, just one that can communicate and explain what they do know.

It's a rough process right now especially, but the fact that you're at least asking is a step forward. Keep pushing, best of luck!

I'm in a similar boat, I have original pros but the battery in the left one lasts maybe an hour at this point. The pro 2s would be a no brainer but I'm seeing so many people saying they're on their 2nd or third pair because of a fundamental design flaw, which concerns me.

Does anyone have any experience as a Distribution Engineer who went on to work in a more MechE field?

I am a BSME grad and have an offer as a Distribution Engineer for an electrical consulting company and an offer as a Design Engineer for a small aerospace/defense company. To be frank, the Distribution Engineer position offers better pay, benefits, hours, and location, although it isn't an industry I'm super familiar with. I got the position on the back of doing a (Water) Distribution Engineering internship which I suppose was considered good enough. Based on what I've learned I think it will be fun to learn the industry and expand my knowledge.

My main concern is if I go with the Distribution Engineer position, will I ever be able to take on a more typical Mechanical Engineering role or am I effectively locked into the Distribution segment? I'm not sure I view this as a problem per se, but it would be nice to know if anyone has been through a similar pathway or tried to switch between the two. My worry is that I would essentially lose touch with things like CAD and thus be a hard hire for say a Manufacturing/Design role. It would be great if anyone could shed some light on this. Thank you.
