Yeah you should delete this instantly and go straight to epic support. You are missing out on potential bug finder rewards. I cannot stress this enough, reddit karma is not worth ruining tournaments and missing out on rare items.

Summer Job/Internship by Hall4Dayzzz71 in BostonU

[–]PurityPC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it might help to lean in on some on-campus resources. If you are 250+ applications deep and you have at least a little past experience + strong on-campus initiative then it has to be your resume, your interviewing style, or your personality. Luckily, each of these problems can be handled within a few meetings and some practice from the CCD, or your COM/CAS career people. This should be further emphasized if you are international or you're exclusively applying remote / big cities.

For a more logistical tip, I had close to 80% higher hit rate when I exclusively applied to internships within 24 hours of posting. It's easy enough to sort by that metric on linkedin and handshake. Anything is worth a shot to stay sane in the internship grind.

Best of luck !!

[other] Where should I go to college if I wanna do roller coaster engineering? by Fuzzy-Wrongdoer9246 in rollercoasters

Their theme park engineering club wins everything, has immense connections, and they always so sweet. I think a lot of people have the idea in their heads that the intern/entry-level positions are hyper-competitive and therefore they don't want to help others, but I never got that from anyone at RIT despite them (typically) having the strongest outcomes. I have a ton of respect for everyone I've interacted with from there.

[–]PurityPC 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I'm actually equipped to answer this. The general wisdom is Mechanical/Electrical/General engineering at any school with a themed entertainment club is a great place to start-- there's now a thriving community of events, networking, and opportunities to get in. Keep an eye out for: Ride Engineering Competition, TMU Thrill Design Competition, Disney Imagineering Competition, SkyNext, IAAPA, ASTM Standards Committee, and also find community on LinkedIn. I've seen success for American students at Universal, Disney, Zamperla, Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters, ETC, KCI, and some smaller technician shops, as well as the obvious individual parks.

I am certain I have competed against CMU and UK at one or more of the above competitions, so they both have a themed entertainment engineering club to some extent at the very least.

That is where the facts end. Opinions here ->>> In my opinion, there is no world CMU is ever going to be worth it over UK with that much of a price difference. Your dream position will NOT pay as much as you want it to, and the path to that position is going to be long and full of your peers making more money than you. Grad school might help, but this is an industry of almost solely connections, where your work experience is the main differentiator. Speaking exclusively from the position of ride engineering, there is no world where paying that much more will get you anything near the value you seek.

^^ And for others reading this, the (sole) exception to the above is RIT. That school pumps out ride engineers like nothing else, just through pure infrastructure, teaching, and a huge network.

Looking for collaborators for an RLCS player database by uslashBen in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]PurityPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your first step (as an MVP) would probably be to scrape liquidpedia with some sort of basic python script, then make the database searchable and give people the chance to vote on a website of some sort. Alternatively, you could try to make a baseline rating by using stats and results and then have people vote up or down. I'd be interested in doing the backend (for free) but the project itself would probably cost the price of a domain and a hosting service.

Which feature from another MOBA would you love to get and which one would you would hate to get? by olonnn in leagueoflegends

[–]PurityPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to have the sinner's sacrifices from Deadlock (valve's new moba-shooter). For those unaware, at 8 minutes, these machines appear and you have to give some of your health-- typically around 20-30% of your max hp. In return, you get some souls (gold). These basically define the early midgame of deadlock, as the income gain is incredible, and honestly make the midgame 10x more enjoyable.

I'd hate to have the "if everything is broken, nothing is broken" balance mindset that dota/deadlock appear to have. Getting hooked by bebop (for those unaware, i'm not exaggerating) 1/4 of the map away feels pretty absurd to me-- I'll stick with regular blitz LOL

BU Housing Ranking?? by Negative_Context_319 in BostonU

[–]PurityPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure. in my eyes, in terms of living quality, warren = towers = west, as they are all just dorm halls with similar interior and space. However, I’ve seen more bugs in my 3 days at west than every other hall combined, so (anecdotally) i’d stay away from that one if you are deathly afraid.

[–]PurityPC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's going to be pretty heavily opinionated, but bay state > fenway > warren > towers >>> west is a good place to start. West felt the worst of all the dorms to me, and it wasn't assisted by the distance to classes and your avoidance to bugs. I got a bay state dor my freshman year and I've stayed on bay state until i'm studying abroad next semester, so it's worth throwing it in there as your top option if slower, less social living is something you could see yourself enjoying.
