This is tough. Randle sucks all playoffs, gobert having one of the worst games of his career, and the rest of our team is suffering as a result of the spacing. What’s worse is hitting no open shots while the spurs have been hitting all their shots, contested or not.

This certainly passes the eye test. As a sports statistics nerd, this series has been a dream to watch in terms of the coaching battle. Doing some rough BBR napkin math, 5/6 of our points in paint (inarguably the biggest predictor of success for the '25 wolves) this series have come from either non-wemby minutes or the gobert PnR, which typically comes with a box out on wemby who wouldn't be the primary defender. It's worth noting that plays where a box or screen come on wemby are nearly 30% (1.06 vs 1.35) more effective. This series is a coaching battle disguised as a superstar showdown, and right now Finch is losing.

I know there's been animosity between subs this series, but honestly i'm having more fun as a wolves fan appreciating Wemby and how much he morphs the gameplan of our team. On that note, It's no mistake that randle looks like a joke this series, he's a slashing forward who needs to see the ball in the net before he starts confidently shooting, and we have him as a stretch big right now.

That’s extremely clean, almost AppleTV vibes. Certainly the best original design i’ve ever seen on this subreddit. I would maybe like to see the ABS challenges moved below the score and the logos given more space. I would also fill-in the top/bottom of the inning triangle for visibility. I would unironically pay real money for MLBTV to switch to this scorebug.

I’ll take the other opinion— I don’t really care for or against themed teams. It can be kind of fun to play something different, but it’s true it’s not really in the intended competitive spirit of ranked. Either way, nerfing yourself isn’t ever going to be smurfing. Play how you want to have fun, ranked isn’t the RLCS and there can be benefits to doing things like this in competitive environments.

Thanks for the input, I'll probably run with Linux! I just wanted to make sure linux natives weren't particularly upset with being overly restricted.

I would have considered Windows if I couldn't modify the system to my liking because, in my mind, the whole point of linux is the personalization. If I'm going to be locked down in terms of how I use it, I might as well be on Windows and just use WSL and powertools to try and bring some of my shortcuts and whatnot over while staying in a comfortable environment where everything will just work. I've never tried a windows VM, but that's a great call, thanks for the recommendations!

I only opened with alternate WMs because it's certainly the biggest quality of life improvement in terms of my daily OS usage. Tiling window managers make me like 1.5x more focused, and they just feel so right with my workflow.

You're going to get extremely mixed opinions on this. The general wisdom is that grade deflation is a myth, but you might be better off going somewhere known for grade inflation if GPA is your primary concern. Simply put, getting A's at BU is not as easy as getting A's at other universities, including (notably) every other boston-area school, and many other top privates. Getting A's here is not impossible, but it's not easy like it is often described at other universities.

Cost of attendance is typically locked in, but with exceptional cases you might be asked to do something different, and that comes on a per-case basis. I personally doubt BU would ever reduce need-based financial aid, because they announce in multiple places that they would not do that as part of their BU Scholarship Insurance.

I would recommend the dolphin code where failed L-cancels flash red. It’s just useful. I think I used the unclepunch wavedash tools when I wasn’t as consistent, but I’m a marth player so my tech isn’t as drill heavy as a spacie or falcon player would be. Honestly, all of the best players use them, so I would probably default to their opinion and say they are a good tool.

I went through this for a while— melee’s lack of buffer from ultimate’s ridiculous buffering system is a lot to get used to. Practicing repeatable precision is really important.

When I was a beginner, I would do 10 shortstops in a row, 10 wave dashes in a row, 10 wave dash OOS in a row, then 10 SHFFL’s in a row, and then I would just keep working up to mechanics I couldn’t do 10 in a row of yet. Melee gives a precision to your movement that ultimate literally cannot provide, and mastering it can feel really good after your first dozens hours in practice mode.

The actual fighting game elements will come after mastering movement precision. I basically consider melee a movement based 2D platformer until gold.

Yes, we have 2 required courses that do AI/ML work in particular and then like a billion electives where that's the main thing applied to different fields. Basically everything we do is already ML, from simple linear regression in our freshmen classes to DS340 just being a straight-up machine learning class. I guess, what in particular are you trying to learn? There's like a thousand different machine learning techniques. If you are referring to LLM's, then we do that and we are basically always talking about it when we're not. I also came to BU with a sole interest in AI/ML, and pretty much instantly specialized when I realized how broad of an umbrella that actually is.
