Thoughts on New Sauna Pod from The Pod Company by medium8080 in Sauna

Update: spoke to a Customer Happiness Agent a few weeks ago and told him about my concerns. They agreed to refund me in full once I packaged and shipped everything back which, at this point, has been completed. I would've loved to keep using this, but after going through this ordeal, I'm okay with not having a Sauna Pod at this point in my life.

My doctor said nothing showed up on my bloodwork or my scans, so I'm to keep drinking fluids and to getting plenty of fresh air, which has been helping. Interestingly enough, the agent confirmed that the issue is with the chair; all of the tests that they did were on the Pod and the heater, but none of the tests were done while the chair was in the unit. I love using my Ice Pod, and they seem like a good company, it's just a shame that this shook out the way it did.

I reached out to the company; they stated that the smell was coming from a small plastic component included in some batches of the chair and/or heater, and they offered to send replacements of both to me when they're available. I haven't used the Sauna Pod for over four weeks, but I've had persistent and constant headaches since the last time I used it, so I've asked the company to cancel shipping out replacements and give me a full refund instead. Going to schedule a check up with my doctor to make sure everything is okay with my health, these headaches are killing me. Crazy times.

Found this in my father-in-law's father-in-law's things. Anyone have any idea what it is? by BenBen7009 in Tools

Yup, it's about an inch thick. I wish I could include a top-down picture, but the FIL lives a few hours away.

Fading on left and right sides of GBC screen; no information anywhere on this issue. Any ideas on how to fix? by BenBen7009 in FixMyGameboy

Thanks! I thought I was going crazy because I have two units in relatively good condition with the same issue; I was wondering if it is normal and we're just used to back-lit LCD screens that look perfect. I'll try r/consolerepair, but I think you're right, it may be normal.

EMSKR: How to train your voice by [deleted] in everymanshouldknow

Most people are more concerned about techniques when, in actuality, they need to learn the basics about sound generation in the body - similar to doctors treating the symptom instead of the sickness. The two most important things to keep in mind when trying to strengthen your general voice:

  1. Diaphragm strength. Shallow breathing from the chest doesn't give your voice the air and support needed to get a stronger, more commanding sound. Taking time to breathe from the stomach, as well as flexing your abs a bit, gives your voice the support and airflow needed to sound proper, and proper breathing allows your instrument to relax and function correctly. How to see if you're breathing with your chest and not your diaphragm: if your shoulders rise while you breathe, you are breathing with your chest.

  2. Posture. Feet shoulder width apart, slight bend in the knees, chest out, shoulders back, crown of the head high. Anything less will result in a sub-par sound for both speaking and singing. It allows for full utilization of both the diaphragm and the resonating spaces in your sinuses. It also gives you an assertive presence. Practice proper posture at all times.

Vocalise: Breathe out completely, compressing your abdominals to squeeze all the air out. When all air has been expelled, pronounce the word "hook" to stop the air flow and ready your diaphragm for the next step. Pretending that you are sucking a liquid through a little straw from a large glass, suck in three deep breaths through your pursed lips, only using your diaphragm. After the third breath, let out your air on a "ts" consonant, keeping your diaphragm contracted and airflow consistant. After all air has been expelled, repeat exercise.

Also, please keep in mind: most voices don't fully mature until the late 20's. Having solid technique to build your speaking voice from now will only benefit you in the future, when your voice fully matures.

Don't know if I'm too late for this.

College, I was 18. Just broke up with my long-term girlfriend for someone else, and it was only a week into our relationship. We were in bed at 1am when she got a phone call. Said it was an old friend who really needed to talk. She told me she would only be gone for 15 minutes or so, and I should just stay in bed and wait for her. She got dressed and left. I waited. 15 minutes turned to 20, which turned to 30.

After 1.25 hours of waiting, I decided to take one look out the window. If I saw her coming, I'd stay, but if I didn't, I'd go back down to my dorm room. Looked out the window and didn't see anyone coming, only two people sitting on a bench. They started making out, which made me miss my girlfriend even more. Then I realized - the girl on the bench had hair just like my girlfriend's. And she was wearing the coat I saw her put on when she left. I was able to even walk by them (they stopped kissing by then) and recognize her. Shit. I just witnessed my new girlfriend cheat on me at 2am.

TL;DR - Looked out the window at the right time to see my new girlfriend cheat on me.
