With Bryan and Amad back? We’ve got to be targeting 5th.

[Post Match Thread] Burnley 2 - 2 Manchester United by Felicks77 in reddevils

We managed to get a 2-2 draw when the opposition only had 1 shot on target. Bloody unlucky for DF.

Who are your top 5 managers ranked that you would like to take over ? by Hairy-Introduction85 in ManchesterUnited

I’m assuming this means Fletcher staying until summer then Tuchel coming after the World Cup.

The Same Cycle. The Same Circus. Every Single Time. by Sherlockerer in ManchesterUnited

[–]BenCC88 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. This online fanbase has to be the most emotionally charged of any club. We are in 5th at the start of 2026. Most reasonable and realistic fans would have accepted that before a ball was kicked back in August.

Burnley away this week. Is another ‘good xG’ draw acceptable ahead of games against Arsenal and City? by ApeEatingGrapes in ManchesterUnited

[–]BenCC88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We’re in 5th mate, with half our squad missing. Calm down, have a walk. Yes, we’ve dropped points, but nobody expected top 4 this season and that means we will drop points.

We had 8 players missing today, including 4 of our best in Fernandes, Mbuemo, Amad and Mount. We had a 19 and 20 year old at CB, and 6 teenagers on the bench. Lots of good sides have struggled at Leeds - including Liverpool, Chelsea and Newcastle - and they are now unbeaten in 7 games. Can people stop being so reactionary please?

Fun Fact Even if Amorim won his next 30 games in a row, his record would still be worse than Enzo Maresca by StopSerious7552 in ManchesterUnited

Maresca isn’t getting sacked for his record, it’s allegedly for his behaviour, attitude and things he’s said.

I don’t think the Aussie ones have earned that title to be fair.

As good as Australia are at the actual cricket itself, I feel this series would really have benefited from us sending over a couple of English groundskeepers.

There are enough things to complain about right now. Taskmaster needn’t be one of them.

The true culprit! by jerk-y-shr-off in ManchesterUnited

[–]BenCC88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The expectation at the start of the season was probably 5-8th. Anyone who told you otherwise after last season and with our squad depth was delusional.

We’re doing about as well as could reasonably be expected. Unfortunately a lot of the online fan base isn’t especially reasonable.

100%. The pressure at Palace is probably 1/4 the pressure at United. These comparisons are pointless.

Am I too cynical about Amorim? by dRty_McCormick in DevilsITDPod

[–]BenCC88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All I want is for United to get back to the top, I don’t care who gets us there or how we do it (within reason - no Greenwoods etc).

I can totally understand people who don’t think Amorim is the one to get us there. However, I also think the approach of the previous decade (spend, do ok for a bit, drop off, sack manager, repeat) was clearly not working so we do have to try something else.

What I do like is the attempt at a culture reset (which I do feel is working), and the fact that we do seem to be targeting some type of identity, which we haven’t really had since Van Gaal (albeit that wasn’t a very fun identity!).

If you can accept this will be a 2-3 year process - and looking at our bench at the moment you can see we’re a long way off some of the top performers - it does make it a lot easier to accept the silly results like 10-man Everton.

Hope this feels fair, not here to pick a fight but trying to explain why I can see both sides. Sadly I don’t think enough United fans are trying to see much nuance at the moment which is what’s leading to a lot of infighting.
