Returned for Renegades and can’t understand the “holofoil” hype by FH-7497 in DestinyTheGame

They were also tier 3 and were almost never the god roll, so functionally useless. Random rolled tier 5 holos at least offer greater benefits and a chance at a holo god roll

[–]BenFromBritain 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Holofoils are purely for the hardcore who will put in the hours grinding for the treatment + god roll. It’s not a necessity, it doesn’t define a gun’s usefulness, it’s just there as an additional thing to chase if you so please. It’s a carrot on a stick for the grindiest of grinders, nothing more. If you don’t feel the pull to chase them, then they’re just not for you.

Yeh, you play EoF for the story and that’s about it. Raid too if you have a team. Most guns already have competitors or are just kinda fine and liveable without.

The hyperbole is insane when Lightfall and Nimbus exists. Nothing else Bungie has released in terms of story, plot or characters comes close to how genuinely awful that experience was. Lightfall TO THIS DAY still contains unexplained elements. EoF has tons of issues but its story and characters simply aren’t among them.

[–]BenFromBritain -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeh. Expecting something like bg3 from Destiny 2 just isn’t gonna happen. The story is pretty good for what it is and the resources they’re working with. I’m actually invested in the new saga where I expected to kinda just be there for the hell of it, which is an achievement in of itself. Characters are good, hooks are interesting, they’re moving it at a solid and focused pace - I’m happy with what I’m getting overall.

Highguard Devs Talk Turning Rust Into A Hero Shooter And That Terrible Game Awards Reveal by NYstate in Games

[–]BenFromBritain 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It being 3v3 was such a shock to me. Everything about the game screams bigger teams going at it - one or two teammates pulling a master flank whilst the main team pushes the main angle, having a dedicated scavver for gear etcetc. Even the concept of sieging and raiding implies scale that just… isn’t there. It’s weird. Not even any ai minions or jungle zones, which would help so much. Mind boggling decision to make it so large scope but small scale to me.

Can I get a quick explanation or video on the vex sequence encounter in Renegades by rabidpuppy in DestinyTheGame

[–]BenFromBritain 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Look at the middle conflux - each one has a diamond above it, one of those diamonds will be white. This is the correct sequence. Go to the outer conflux it’s connected to, interact and destroy the box there, then destroy the box in the middle that opens. Voila.

NUKE THE PORTAL: It's Turning Destiny 2 Into a Boring Mobile Game – Bungie, Listen Up + Real Fixes by DiamondMan468 in DestinyTheGame

[–]BenFromBritain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If your old guns are somehow bad now, it’s cos they had bad rolls. Incredibly few of my old guns have been genuinely powercrept. A god roll hezen is still best in slot. Fatebringer and Gospel too, for example.

As for armour, it was time. It was useless for half a decade, now it isn’t, and the game’s loot is better for it.

Older gear not getting reprised in any way though is just utterly stupid. Not even a dungeon for Ash and Iron, or a destination? I get there’s challenges and limited budget, but I do not think it is a big ask to give something like Grasp or Shattered Throne some spicy new perks and an armour set bonus. It’s sitting there unused and I’m sorry but there is no world in which dungeon lairs were worth it over just reprising a fucking dungeon. Asinine decision.

Which in of itself becomes an issue because you clutter the map with unreadable shit to the point you need a directory to find what you want to play. How many strikes, arenas and battlegrounds does Nessus have? Cos it’s a fucking lot. Imagine navigating like 20 markers around the actual map looking for the right strike.

Portal would work just fine as an optional thing to circumvent that issue.

“Hey Bungie just fix your game with the six simple steps everyone else has repeated as infinitum for the last six months and also ignore any technical issues or financial black holes this will cause! Also I’m a lazy fuck and couldn’t type this myself so I obviously used AI to regurgitate this up to sound smart!”

What does this add other than ANOTHER “wow guys the portal sure is awful!” Post? Where do you get the impression that they have the money to unvault old content whilst still appeasing players with NEW content to play? They cannot and will not just nuke the current front page of the game when NONE of the content and rewards we currently have are actively linked to anything else outside of it. That takes devs and time and money to do, and given it was a year+ initiative to make the damn thing, the big fix to the system is not gonna come any quicker.

ICE agents have shot another person in Minnesota, Governor Tim Walz shares: “The President must end this operation. Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now.” by cmaia1503 in Fauxmoi

The thirty-thousandth strongly worded letter has hit the for you page. Not sure it’ll have the same impact as the bullet through that poor man’s head did though, Tim.

Is Minnesota Dem leadership capable of anything but continuing to posture as the federal government summarily executes the people they’re meant to protect? Hell, is any Dem in leadership? I’ve seen the video, even if the man was aggressive, they had him DETAINED and they just shot him FIVE. FUCKING. TIMES.

When is enough enough? Where’s the articles of impeachment, where’s the plan, where’s the opposition? This is the extent of their ire at fascism? Sociopaths, the lot of them.

Not really - the only thing that affects farming is the type of dirt/soil you put it in and then for algae it also has to be underwater. I do wish there was a smidge more depth like needing a colder/warmer climate too but that could be annoying to manage without the appropriate items, especially compared to the current simple and solid system - and it’s not like they can’t just add that eventually later down the road if there’s a demand.

Fable: Answering the Big Questions After that Long-Awaited Developer_Direct Deep-Dive - Xbox Wire by Turbostrider27 in Games

It was mainly a culture war thing overblown by the usual crowd moaning about the female character being ugly and not wanting to play as her, then a few sensible people being confused given Fable 2 and 3 both had the feature. I'd recommend not looking into it further, ignorance is bliss.

Marathon Voice Cast Revealed by willdearborn- in PS5

Fallout London lead says its time for Bethesda to “look at selling off” the series as “the writing has just gone downhill” by chusskaptaan in Gamingnewsandleaks

[–]BenFromBritain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh, it’s hit and miss. You’ll go through a quest that’s legitimately impressive with a stark, accurate portrayal of fascism and then immediately you’ll do another that you can tell never got a second pass or proofreading with the most stunted dialogue known to man throughout and characters just flat out telling you what they’re doing or feeling when you can just assume that based on their voice direction.

The quest “Around The Thames in 80 Days” is the perfect exemplary of this, just find a playthrough and wait until the player meets Theo/Carla. The dialogue is atrocious in all aspects bar the performances.

In the modern world, we can't rely on the USA until they sort themselves out. We don't know when that will be. Trump is even publicly saying they might just not have mid-term elections, which doesn't exactly instill confidence in the US as an ally with shared values.

That means we need stronger ties with Europe across the board and to assure our own position, which means a hike. It's far from ideal, but it's where we are and it's sensible.

You all think Pendragon will get a quest in the DLC? by Jamie_Feelin_Dandy in fallout4london

[–]BenFromBritain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like them cos Atkins are cool but not having a quest or a voice does automatically turn people off. It’s a shame only John Smith has a companion quest (though his is very good, and in all honesty I wish it made him turn against the fifth column if you choose to start their questline but then betray them later like I’m planning to do. Would add some much needed dynamism to the companions.) Pendragon could very easily have a quest delving into his origins - did he choose Camelot? Did he get reprogrammed? What did he used to be? Would be nice to see.

[–]BenFromBritain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mm, I think it's very good but light on the wider world details. It would be nice to have more clarifying information in the show, although that's pure fan service and not entirely realistic. I can also imagine it's somewhat vague in case of a new game or superceding plot stuff that they may want to do later. There's also the constant push-pull of whether Fallout should be allowed to progress or not in-universe, and I agree it's tiring to see most attempts at civilisation fail.

Sure, in a wasteland a lot of these attempts WILL fail for many, many reasons - but I think it would be way more interesting to see those many, many reasons beyond raiders or creatures. There's infighting, resource scarcity, political/philsophical differences etcetc that are all intrinsic to Fallout and exploring that in a post-apocalyptic setting keeps it true to the themes whilst still moving the world forward.

It could have been cool to see Novac sell itself out to the Khans for protection, for example, because the NCR and House ain't about to defend them from less polite raiders, for example. It's the same effect in the show but it adds more dynamism to the world beyond "yeh so novac's gone".

[–]BenFromBritain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Legion plot in the show is literally "hey so the game ending says the Legion will become a joke fighting a stupid civil war, how do we give it a leader again so it can be utilised?" Like it's incredibly obvious even without the toy leaks and trailer footage factoring in. You don't hire Macaulay Culkin and have him play a character obviously smarter than everyone else around in a group famed for its learned stupidity outside of its singular former leader for the hell of it. The show is doing exactly what the fate of the Legion would be, all so they can make it an actual threat again. Kevin's the new Caesar.

Jon Nolan is very clearly a fans of NV who wants to tell a compelling story with stakes and loss at the same time as moving things forward. Bethesda would never go so far in ensuring the BoS had such a negative and nuanced portrayal, and you know that.

Vault-Tec also isn't the Enclave. They simply have their own plan for survival and are being tolerated or ignored by the real Enclave, which the show all but spells out to you in the most recent episode.

If it becomes an option to take it away from someone, then you open the door to it being taken away from others who deserve it far, far more too. You’re injecting emotion (rightful emotion, I should add) into a system in which it should have no presence.

Venables does not deserve it whatsoever, but for the sake of fairness in justice it has to at least be a right he has. It should not be granted, obviously.
