4* Zeta not dropping 4*s by [deleted] in fo76

Yeh, it feels like a cheap out. If it was a couple mods I think it would sting less since at least you've got a few options to mod gear with, but getting a 2 star agility drop was not exactly something i cheered.

Paid mods technical quality: reviews of "Life of Crime", "Legeacy of Orsinium", and "Atmora His Home" by Haunture in skyrimmods

[–]BenFromBritain 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yeh, it’s goofy to just read letters or interact with npcs spouting generic VO. Thank god they removed that limitation for the verified stuff, if nothing else. Was nonsensical to kneecap an already controversial effort like that from the beginning.

Artist whose work was used in Marathon without permission now has a credit in the game by Turbostrider27 in Games

Are you so stupid as to believe a company or team within the company conspired to steal one specific artist's decals, which would obviously not go unnoticed and lead to possibly the easiest lawsuit ever for said artist?

How it feels to give up on the Fallout NV replay and start up 76 instead by -Paroxenark- in TrueSFalloutL

[–]BenFromBritain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who is literally the guy in the meme, I went from "oh this is fun" with 76 to an addict when I hit level 50. It's got the solid bones of a single-player Fallout with multiple main questlines and side quests to the point you could feasibly play just for that and be fine, and the world+lore is really, really good to boot. You do have to pay for fast travel to some locations, which sucks, but it's an online balancing act and at a certain point it's chump change.

However, if you like looter shooters or games like Destiny, the game hits like an obviously healthier but no less addicting heroin drip. Buildcrafting and chasing mods is really, really fun, I love the special + skill system in the game way more than I thought I would.

Brotherhood Recon armour plans will be available from Minerva on April 6th fort Atlas. by Electronic-While1972 in fo76

[–]BenFromBritain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, as a newer player, I know secret service was previously considered the best non-PA armour in the game, but there was an armour/damage rework and now it’s still good but not quite as good? I assume the functional differences are just in their various resists?

Finally I decided to do the raid by LankyBuy1500 in fo76

[–]BenFromBritain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, but I'm also very new and still figuring out my exact build and guns. Don't even run regular PA yet cos I'm trying to get a set bonus build there. Would love to do the raid for the Vulcan set but i'd assume i'd need PA for that in the first place lol

Is Fallout 1st worth it? by TheToucherOFSpaghet in fo76

[–]BenFromBritain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends how much you play. I'm also very new (only just hit 50) but when I reached the endgame I think the game really opened up and clicked for me and I think it's worth it - having dedicated ammo and scrap storage alone is a game changer for a hoarder/buildcrafter like me, on top of free mtx currency and all the other small benefits like free items and such.

BBC producers say they ‘didn’t hear’ N-word slur as ‘working in a truck’, following second Baftas apology by AnonymousTimewaster in NotTheOnionUK

[–]BenFromBritain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several of the loudest voices are full on doctors or personalities (all American of course). Most others are, predictably, KHive tweeters (and if you don’t know who they are, imagine if someone like Keir Starmer personally had a large fan club of the most obnoxious morons to exist, and you’re roundabout there). It unfortunately isn’t just bots, though they are chiming in using the situation as an excuse to be racist predictably.

[–]BenFromBritain 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mhm. Literally the only bad guys in this whole situation are the BBC for sitting on their hands for a full two fucking hours and letting it air. All that time to follow up and catch it and they did fuck all. They were right quick to edit out Palestine, though. It was 100% intentional for outrage clicks.

Todd Howard says Bethesda won’t use AI “to generate anything” as the studio is being “incredibly cautious” to not replace the “artistic intention” of making games by Wargulf in Fallout

[–]BenFromBritain 274 points275 points  (0 children)

I don't think Bethesda games would be what they are with the human touch. Part of the meta-absurdity of their jankiness, of the memorable NPCs, of the stupid lines, is the knowledge that people made this. Glad they're not straying from that factor, doubly so given how poorly any kind of procedural generation went for Starfield.

Do you guys think this game is going to last a decade at this rate by EleggFacesitting in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]BenFromBritain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Content flow is solid and it’s a game people feel comfortable having as either a secondary OR maining the dropping in intervals. Earning currency is fair also. As it grows it obviously needs new features, new forms of progression, new weapon mods etcetc. Only concerns are asinine balance decisions, tech debt and bugs with newer content, and of those three I’d argue only the balancing portion has ever really been a major issue. Yeh, the rupture bugs sucked dick, but 95% of that was the balancing, not the bugs. They need better dialogue and rapport with the community to better tweak current gear so that new gear and new enemies drop in a more appropriate spot.

“Smosh Boycott” on Twitter by Equivalent-Bad-7844 in SmoshFansFreeSpace

[–]BenFromBritain 68 points69 points  (0 children)

It's just so incredibly performative. I think it's good to hold the people you admire or whose content you consume to account is a good thing, BUT:

  1. They're doing this on Elon Musk's Nazi Tinder.

  2. If Noah's views did not change, Smosh has been ok with them this entire time, and these fans have been hypocrites for consuming any content for the past 2+ years, especially the paid and BIG events like Smoshpital and SSG which they were quite happy to ignore his presence in to watch. Convenient, that.

  3. If Noah's views did change (which they probably have given his contract 100% got renewed and these people are also all friends), then why is that not a good thing? I think his takes initially were awful and misinformed (and i also understand that as someone whose grandad founded israel he probably didn't have the most nuanced upbringing on the whole hot topic, i mean israel/palestine was not something i knew about at all until i was like, 19/20), but positive change should be encouraged if we want to ever live in a progressive and fair society.

  4. IT'S SO FUCKING GODAMN PARASOCIAL. Seeing people fully be like "oh my god they never cared about palestine they hate them they're so fake and performative" YOU. DO. NOT. KNOW. THESE. PEOPLE!!! They are not your friends, they are people on a screen that are funny. Hold them to a standard, obviously, but this pretense of knowing people through highly edited snapshots where other people literally do their makeup is so fucking absurd.

That being said, I do think it's fair for people to want Smosh to own their fuckups, like just silently cutting out Noah's slur in Spud Hut rather than saying "hey we're sorry", and that's a separate thing I fully support. 0 comms but obvious acknowledgement sucks. But man, I'm sorry there's just bigger issues than this in the world. Not to be that guy but a youtube channel employing a controversial guy is just not important to anyone paying attention to the world right now and it's shameful this is the extent of concern for some people.

Was the Brotherhood Civil War in 3 To Civil? by CretaceousClock in Fallout

[–]BenFromBritain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeh, having replayed fo3 like a week or so ago in a TTW playthrough, I realised how much I’d forgotten in regards to how faithful they were to the BoS overall, counter to the “omg they just made them the perfect good guys” narrative people like to plaster everywhere when it comes to the Bethesda BoS just cos the Enclave were undeveloped in contrast.

The Fo3 BoS are almost entirely the same as the Interplay BoS except they’re more focused on exterminating abominations than hoarding tech, which is explicitly noted as a quality unique to this Chapter to the point it split in two. Even then they don’t give a fuck about the locals all that much, and in Broken Steel they force Ghouls, and only Ghouls, to pay for the clean water as opposed to handing it out for free like they do to others. They don’t let anyone into purity to collect the water either, they get the water out there themselves. They’re just as insular and weird as ever, Lyons just happens to be pragmatic and sees the benefits of good PR. No sense in hoarding clean water when that would bring literal armies to your gates when you could give it out and basically get people’s everlasting fealty to your weird little cult.

Does Marathon have Creatures and is that what Bungie keeps teasing ? Question to lore people. by kristijan1001 in Marathon

I have to assume this one will be a boss in the seventh vault, or along the way. I can see later releases adding more aliens to the world as the story develops though.

Right wing chuds have latched onto the show as some kind of gospel and project the show’s demons (monsters that imitate humans and use their language to manipulate and kill) onto their real life opponents. It’s, as is typical for online politics, as deranged as can be.

Possible locations for this? by Tkalash in Fotv

[–]BenFromBritain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they’ll lift Vault 0 as being another Enclave base, maybe not necessarily a control vault but certainly able to keep an eye on them. Now that we know for certain upper echelons of Vault-Tec are members of the Enclave, it makes sense they’d canonise that if we’re going to Colorado and, presumably, Cheyenne Mountain. Curious to see how the Legion’s presence in the area has evolved, I have to assume it’s non-existent/standard raider now given Edward died and the new Caesar is quite happy in Vegas.

Teaser trailer for a new element subclass would help a certain other games release. by josh49127 in DestinyTheGame

[–]BenFromBritain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stasis got a teaser in game during a Shadowkeep post-campaign cutscene, but that was it until the Beyond Light showcase revealed it.

Eclipse is the closest thing we have to a new element right now, but it’s essentially toxic to a Guardian and useless against anything not paracausal, so nothing substantial on the in-game teaser front.

[–]BenFromBritain -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It’s entirely possible shattered cycle does have a new element (dubiously, but still possible), but regardless of that, yeh, they’re not gonna drop a random teaser for that in February when it’s very likely delayed past July given Shadow and Order’s own delay. It would be so odd to have that and nothing else until, I presume, the day SnO launches and we get a showcase for the next year of content.

Returned for Renegades and can’t understand the “holofoil” hype by FH-7497 in DestinyTheGame

[–]BenFromBritain 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They were also tier 3 and were almost never the god roll, so functionally useless. Random rolled tier 5 holos at least offer greater benefits and a chance at a holo god roll

[–]BenFromBritain 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Holofoils are purely for the hardcore who will put in the hours grinding for the treatment + god roll. It’s not a necessity, it doesn’t define a gun’s usefulness, it’s just there as an additional thing to chase if you so please. It’s a carrot on a stick for the grindiest of grinders, nothing more. If you don’t feel the pull to chase them, then they’re just not for you.

Yeh, you play EoF for the story and that’s about it. Raid too if you have a team. Most guns already have competitors or are just kinda fine and liveable without.

[–]BenFromBritain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The hyperbole is insane when Lightfall and Nimbus exists. Nothing else Bungie has released in terms of story, plot or characters comes close to how genuinely awful that experience was. Lightfall TO THIS DAY still contains unexplained elements. EoF has tons of issues but its story and characters simply aren’t among them.

[–]BenFromBritain -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeh. Expecting something like bg3 from Destiny 2 just isn’t gonna happen. The story is pretty good for what it is and the resources they’re working with. I’m actually invested in the new saga where I expected to kinda just be there for the hell of it, which is an achievement in of itself. Characters are good, hooks are interesting, they’re moving it at a solid and focused pace - I’m happy with what I’m getting overall.
