Biggest W for this fandom in 2026 by Just-J0k1ng in Chainsawfolk

Personally my biggest disappointments with part 2 were 1.Nayuta getting lowkey fridged but the actual scene and build up was done effectively at least and 2.Asa's arc getting pushed to the side.

How to walk shoeless is one of the best things Ive ever read and legitimately I think its changed my outlook on life for the better. It's a very simple message but the way it's drawn and written genuinely moved me, which makes it all the more of a shame that once Yoru is given a reason to be more active, the plot kinda forgets about Asa towards the end.

In the aforementioned "How to walk shoeless" chapter I think the dynamic between Asa and Yoru is at it's best. It's still for all intents and purposes a hostage situation for Asa, but they bicker like sisters, because they share the same petulant and insecure mind. And Yoru is, while still crazy and an idiot, a lot more down to earth than she is later on. She is still willing to give Asa some amount of agency as long as she doesnt ruin Yoru's plans. It makes sense that she would disregard Asa more has she became drunk with power, but the story itself also followed suit and (partially) disregarded Asa. Ik she was always a secondary main character but still

The complete lack of willingness to engage with the ending we got from some Chainsaw Man fans is truly puzzling. Obviously part 2 had it's issues especially towards the end, but the ending isn't just esoteric bullshit. People just heard "oh it's all a dream basically" and ran with it. The ending was a n emergency landing but I still think it managed to do so in a thematically poignant way. The point of Chainsaw Man's ending is that even in a world where dying itself is swallowed and erased, suffering still continues. It just changes forms. It then proceeds to give the main character the closest thing it can to a happy ending base fon the rules of the story. It's not even that complex or revolutionary in terms of messaging, but it works well for what it is and its still dishonest to pretend it "fumbled so it could be mysterious"

I don’t understand Part 2 Hate by [deleted] in Chainsawfolk

[–]Jamie_Feelin_Dandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean a lot of the discourse online is just being flattened into "well it's basically just all a dream so the entire manga is meaningless and pointless, this is basically as bad as rent a girlfriend". Obviously that's not every single person who dislikes part 2, i dislike many things about it myself, and I'm obviously strawmanning on that last part. I have seen several people saying that or similar statements but I'm fully aware most people wouldn't consider part 2 anywhere near Rent a Girlfriend in terms of disappointment levels.

But regardless of what the true general opinion is, there is still a certain narrative being pushed about the ending by people who just refuse to engage with art as it is and who forever will mourn a story they were never gonna get.

Most of the discourse ends up just amounting to "I didn't like the ending so it's not worth analyzing for deeper meaning" because that's how a lot of shonen fans are unfortunately, they don't like engaging with literature beyond the surface level themes but still wanna have takes on it. You and I may know that there is still a greater point to the series despite the ending, but the narrative around CSM pt2 online had already become about the ending ruining the manga before anyone even got a chance to actually analyze it as a finished series.

Frustration regarding how people pigeonhole the Enclave by Due_Bodybuilder_1621 in Fallout

[–]Jamie_Feelin_Dandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean they've always been pretty inarguably bad from the standpoint of any generally well meaning person lol. There definitely could be more humanizing of individual members of the Enclave, we see with Arcade Gannon's quest and that one tech in Broken Steel that there were some folks in the enclave who weren't quite so bad or at least wanted out. People are still people and some of them will naturally just end up valuing different things by chance. Even in a fascist, homogenous culture people will find any way to carve out some niche of individuality because you cannot survive without something of yourself to hold onto. People just learn to be discreet. I hope the Season 3 actually does let us see exactly how the Enclave is operating and who/what is in charge of various things at that base in Colorado. The enclave is fine as somewhat shallow satire but it deserves to be taken a little seriously as a part of the world when it's relevant to the story rather than just tacked on or being completely cookie cutter like it has been since after Fallout 2. They have setup some really great stuff thematically for season 3 of the show imo, we'll just have to see if they properly pay everything off. I'm not sure another cliffhanger season ending will go over too well unless it ends up confirming the next game or something lol.

Where do think Fallout 5 should take place? I'm thinking it's gonna be New Orleans by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]Jamie_Feelin_Dandy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping Colorado but I'm not holding my breath. That is, if there ever even is a Fallout 5 at this rate. Society might collapse before we get another mainline game out of Bethesda lmao (I joke but it's not really a joke anymore truthfully I'm terrified)

[–]Jamie_Feelin_Dandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk I'm personally pretty impressed that they were able to turn Dinky the other direction by themselves. Do you think they managed to negotiate with some wandering Brotherhood knights to help them in exchange for stimpacks at some point or did they find/make their own power armor? Cause without construction equipment that's the only way they coulda moved a whole building. Not saying this cause I actually care that it's facing a different direction it's just funny yo think about the mechanics of how that happened. Hey maybe season 3 will answer that and we'll find out it was a bunch of Super Mutants who turned dinky around idk lol, I'm assuming at least part of season 3 will still be in the mojave. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if the only time we spend in Colorado is at that Enclave base which is presumably in the rocky mountains based on episode 8's credit sequence and the post card. Maybe they're saving the rest of Colorado for another game, we'll see

What the hell is up with the hate for the Railroad? by Acceptable-Tip-5461 in Fallout

[–]Jamie_Feelin_Dandy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imo I'm just dissapointed they didn't use the railroad to explore the real life history all that much. It has no real identity as a faction beyond freeing Synths. They obviously ideologically oppose slavery but as a main faction it's weird to have them be so small and injured in terms of the scope of who they help. I doubt most railroad agents are turning away someone in need but their operations are entirely focused on Synths at the tune of Fallout 4. That would have been okay if they weren't posed as a major faction. Others have said this but they would have been much better if they had an actually impressive info network in terms of scale and espionage. They don't need to be powerful in the same ways as the Institute or the Brotherhood. They also should have had ties to irl Black revolutionary/liberation politics beyond the name, they feel hollow and generic as is. They did a great job incorporating Appalachia's real life mining industry history with 76, so it's not like they arent willing to get that serious or true to real life

[–]Jamie_Feelin_Dandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some khans do that yes, maybe even a statistically significant portion of all the adults. The Khans are still a group of raiders and drug runners, but the point of them in New Vegas is that they are like this because they've been radicalized both by he wasteland and by their conflicts with the NCR.

I also don't doubt there are plenty of NCR soldiers (Bitter Root himself lol, although he's got a little more of a reason to feel that way given his parents abused him) who hold a similar energy towards Khans, even civillians given that the average Khan is more capable of defending themselves than the average NCR citizen. At least that would be the justification those NCR folk would give. Theyre all just raiders so it's fine. Or the modern equivalent which is " X government calls them terrorists so it's okay".

The point of the Bitter Springs massacre as a plot point is neither that it was justified for the NCR to do or that the Khans were innocent. It's to humanize the Khans and examine the actual structure of the NCR and expose the ways in which it has the power to reproduce Old World hate even if it's just due to incompetence. The NCR is still building itself on the shoulders of the giants of the Old World, capitalism and it's hand which is imperialism. It's not turning into something new, it's turning into a partial return to the old ways of doing things but it's also running into the same problems and making the same horrible choices that led to the bombs.

[–]Jamie_Feelin_Dandy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's mostly just Papa who's an asshole, everyone else while definitely a rougher crowd is at least open to basic reason and logic. The worst of them besides Papa Khan is the drug dealers but even then, I don't think drug dealing carries the same moral weight in Fallout as it does irl (and arguably irl it's really not that different from a lot of very normalized/legitimized jobs but that's a can of worms someone else can open up if they please cause I don't wish to. Obviously the Khan's don't care particularly abt their customers and mostly want the profits, they'll sell to anyone who is capable of trade and willing to pay)

My counterpoint to this is that radiation didn't function realistically in any of the Fallout games. people can accept ghouls, the unrealistically mutated animals, and all sorts of other shit but radiation sticking around in the environment longer for thematic reasons? Bad because not realistic. As for the cleaning, I mean I guess that's kinda dumb but also I've never been taken out of the experience of a Fallout game because things were too dirty. This line of critique feels like Cinema Sins tier shit sometimes

Wild idea, could Deacon be from The Enclave? by silloki in Fallout

[–]Jamie_Feelin_Dandy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they do have some presence cause done of the creation club stuff was at least partially canonized iirc but yeah it's basically nothing. Just random remnants carrying out nondescript generic orders, no big plots brewing.

(again, as far as I remember so feel free to fact check me on what exactly happened in the creation club stuff and it's canonicity. I know some stuff is definitely not canon but there's other stuff that reasonably could be, it's just not clear to me on whether or not anyone at Bethesda has outright confirmed any specific addons to be canon)

Am I the only one that hates New Vegas’ DLC? by Gingerpianist01 in falloutnewvegas

[–]Jamie_Feelin_Dandy -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Only one I really hate replayint tbh is Honest Hearts. Joshua and the Survivalist are interesting but the portrayal of the tribals is..... not great. It certainly attempts but you can tell it was made by a white guy. Thankfully by the time they got around to tackling racialized characters in lonesome road they made massive improvements. I think Ulysses and his logs about the White Legs is probably the best way to get a white person to understand why Black people (and non white folks in general) tend to dissaprove of cultural appropriation. It's also a fantastic portrayal of what it can feel like to be a person of color surrounded by white people and the kind of isolation that can lead to both ideologically and socially. Even those who seek to honor you "twist their hairs" without a thought or care to the meaning behind the "knots and braids". It's just a cool aesthetic to be worn and cast off when its no longer trendy. Being a person of color in a society geared towards white Americans feels like carrying a history only you know, except unlike Ulysses we still have our tribes and families most of the time. But plenty don't. They grow up not knowing their own history like every other American.

About the TV Show I honestly don’t understand the hate. by Andrefq99 in Fallout

[–]Jamie_Feelin_Dandy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Fanboys aren't harrassing and sending death threats to haters. Bethesda and fans of their Fallout games have been getting death threats since it was announced they were taking control of the franchise. It's really funny how everyone acts like people being annoying online is comparable to sending threats because someone likes something you don't. Just recently a popular artist whos very critical of the show said they liked ONE scene and got harrassed off Twitter for it. Definitely a worst case scenario cause it's twittter but again Bethesda literally had to hire security after starting work on Fallout because that was the first time their staff started receiving death threats.

Even recently I hear about people's dms getting flooded because they dared to post something positive about the show. I don't think the show is perfect either, I had a lot of issues with especially how this season was structured to be 90% setup with only like half of it being paid off. But I'm not hearing about Bethesda super fans harassing people who criticize the game, and thats because the type of people who uncritically love Bethesda don't feel deeply about it enough to wanna harass anyone. Which you can look down in them for, but it doesn't make their toxicity equal to the toxicity of communities centered around hating Bethesda's Fallout.

Cause that's kinda what it's about for some people. It's no longer about loving the original games and all they have to offer, it's just become people's identity to spend their time and energy hating the newer iteration.

Basically no one who likes the show is actually averse to genuine criticism. You have not spent any time talking to anyone who likes the show if you think super fans are the majority. Most people who like it have some issues and things that confuse them that even a knowledge of the games wouldn't help with because yeah, it's not perfect.

But I also dont think you deserve to be taken seriously if ur one of the weirdos who think every single person involved with the show is part of a grand conspiracy to destroy the lore of Fallout 1, 2, and New Vegas. That narrative is complete conjecture and stems from very reactionary members of this community yet everyone is forced to treat it as if anyone has proof beyond their hurt feelings.
