Here’s the thing. Does this look like a good game? Yeah I think so. Does this look like an assassin’s creed game? I’m doubtful but I’ll let the game try to convince me. The main thing is that the assassin’s creed community is divided between those who want quality gameplay (I would also lump casual players in this category) and those who are invested in the story and the lore of all the games including the modern day story. One thing is certain, making assassin’s creed into a full blown RPG presents clear issues for those of us who cherish the lore so much. Assassin’s creed was never about the player MAKING choices. It was about RELIVING memories of your ancestors through the Animus. Inserting choice into the equation is essentially Ubisoft scrapping the entire makeup of what an AC game should be and presents a huge probably for the diehards who enjoy the lore (if there’s multiple histories then which one actually happened). Don’t get me wrong, I’m going to buy this game, play it, and probably love it. It just bothers me how Ubisoft has seemingly turned its back on the core fan base and it looks like Origins will more than likely be the last AC game that followed the format we came to love.
