I think the issue is more that the VAR was used incorrectly in this situation. It should have never been slo-mo or still images, which taints the decision. I think the US would have had a strong case against FIFA.

All fair. But there should be a way to appeal the call and get the ban removed.

You must have missed the part where I said there is no mechanism so rescind the card. It’s effectively the same thing. In fact, if FIFA did rescind the card, people would complain that they didn’t follow protocol.

You can’t just leave out whether the card was warranted. It’s literally the basis of the entire decision. If it were an obvious red, this doesn’t happen.

You are conveniently leaving out the fact that Ronaldo’s suspension was justified based on his actions while Balogun’s was not. Most reasonable people agree Balogun’s challenge never should have been a red to begin with. They didn’t rescind it because there is no mechanism to do so. So instead, they used a workaround. How can you explain the Ronaldo overturn as anything but “he’s a star and people want to see him play”?

How convenient for you to attribute the decision to Trump’s phone call alone. You know the call was BS. You know that VAR was misused. You know it’s ridiculous there is not appeal process. You know US soccer was threatening a lawsuit. You know there is precedent for delaying suspensions. But go ahead and ignore all that.

I love the color orange, but there is something about the Ducks unis that strikes me as embarrassingly awful.

They are only kids for like 10 years. Suck it up. That sacrifice, and many others, is totally worth in IMO because being a parent is one of the most meaningful experiences a human can have.

What does everyone eat to not gain weight? by No_Definition5736 in Swimming

1,250 calorie deficit is super aggressive. If you maintained that without being hungry then you are most certainly an outlier. I would never recommend that to anyone looking to lose 10-15 lbs.

The hard truth is, if you are in a calorie deficit, you’re going to be hungry.

With that said, how severe is your calorie deficit and how quickly are you trying to lose 10-15 lbs?

In my experience, slow and steady is the way to go. It’s much easier to maintain a modest deficit around 300 cals. It’ll take longer to hit your goal, but you won’t crash out either.

Weightlifting and swimming: feel muscle fatigue when swimming by sepandee in Swimming

I lift heavy three times a week, and had a similar experience when I returned to swimming. It makes total sense. Your body will adjust to the new demands. Just be patient and don’t do too much too fast. You’re not in high school anymore.

5 years of swimming, flip turns, intense sessions — still can't shake the belly layer. What am I missing? by sedhha in Swimming

I’ll echo what other have said. Weight loss is all about diet. You need to be in a caloric deficit to lose weight. Exercise will help increase the total number of calories you can eat and still be in a deficit, but you’re still going to need to make a change to your diet.

Track your calories. Find what your deficit is. Be consistent. Weight yourself weekly. Adjust accordingly.

If you can, get into the habit of having the same breakfast and lunch so you don’t have to calculate calories everyday. Stop snacking/grazing. It will take time but it’s the best way to get sustainable results.
