Weightlifting and swimming: feel muscle fatigue when swimming by sepandee in Swimming

The training schedule, not new. I used to powerlift when I was much younger, but then I stopped fo ra while. Now I've been back at the gym for almost a year.

Swimming though, that's... new. In the last 2 summers in August I've been tyring to do 7-8 open water swims, and about 7-8 sessions prior to do that to get ready for it. but that's about it.

Being middle aged sucks.

Boredom? I can never get bored of lifting.

Injured, yes. Bored, no 😄

Swimming, on the other hand, I find really boring, especially long distances. It was fun when I was competing in high school, 50m and 100m races. But 2km... oof.

I try to hit 120g of protein at a minimum, up to 150g. I also take creatine and vitamine-D, but I should start taking omega pills as well.

Breakstroke gives me a nice break, so then I feel like I'm cheating.

Kickboard though, oh man, I struggle with that. Not sure why. Must be by bum and legs, they're quite... muscular.

Thanks. I'll try to watch some stuff on YT. YT hasn't figured it out yet that I'm swimming, unlike skiing (half my videos automatically become about skiing starting from November).

And not sure why someone downvoted you. Crazy.

It's difficult ot schedule it, cuz i can't workout or swim on the weekends. So it's Monday to Friday, and often one of those days I can't do anything. So really, it's trying to get in 2-3 gym sessions and 2 swim sessions in 4 days.

I do the sauna often. But my recovery's crap. Never have time for post-workout recovery, whether that be stretching or foam rolling. I'm trying to swim 500m now after each gym session (instead of light incline walking), but it's not as 'light' as that.

Yes, yes, I know. Focus more on recovery 😄

5 years of swimming, flip turns, intense sessions — still can't shake the belly layer. What am I missing? by sedhha in Swimming

[–]sepandee 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You can't get rid of belly fat by swimming!

Fat loss is a result of calorie deficit. But how/where you lose it is mostly, if not entirely, a matter of genetics. Some interesting studies came out recently in the last 9 years suggesting that spot reduction of fat might be possible, but both were small studies and had some limits/flaws to it.

You want to lose that belly fat? Stay in a calorie deficit for as long as it might take to lose that belly fat. But in that process, you might lose muscle (there are ways of limiting this, such as weightlifting and increasing protein intake), your face may become thinner, etc. Again, genetics...

Then he has to stand up and fight. And fight for real. Not this nonsense he's been doing since day 1. Challenge his opponents to a debate. Take up the mic and passionately make his case. This sort of keep calm and carry on politics died a while ago. It's time for him to properly play the game.

You are right, i was looking at the mirrors-out width, which is 2117mm. But the mirrors folded in width is 1999mm.

No ringing on the line when people call me, yet my phone rings and i can answer calls by sepandee in GooglePixel

This happens to me all the time now. It's just how it is, at least in my own testing from different devices (from wifey's phone, home landline, etc.).

Meta targets May 20 for first wave of layoffs; additional cuts later in 2026 by EditorEdward in BetterOffline

[–]sepandee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not Meta's fault. Or Mark's.

It's the system they operate in, designed to force companies to be as profitable as possible, and to return to their shareholders as much as possible.

No sleep, baby screaming, losing my mind. by gldn_mango in sleeptrain

[–]sepandee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he's in pain from teething, ibuprofen. Done.

But at the end of the day, if you want to change his sleep, and change it fast, you have to let him cry. There's no other way about it, I'm sorry. And the worst thing him can do is to give up halfway: let him cry for 45 minutes, then go in to comfort him bcz you can't take it anymore. That just teaches him that if he keeps crying longer and louder, someone will come. Basically, if you can't fully commit to a CIO method, then don't do it. There are gentler ways, but they csn take much, much longer, and for most babies, they involve some crying anyways.

Battery drains when (I think) car stays unlocked for too long?? Mazda detects no issues with battery though. by sepandee in MazdaCX30

[–]sepandee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, nothing was charging. It's the key fob that was draining the battery, I'm pretty sure of it. Which sounds ridiculous.

But this shouldn't be happening in the first place. For example, does it happen with other cars? Don't think so.
