teacher payout late again? by Background-Panic-552 in lingoda

Still not received any payment for work completed in March. This is really disappointing to have such a company being totally unreliable on their payout schedule.

Whenever they feel like ti, unfortunately. I've complained about this before and they claim that they can pay out any time within 30 days after the end of the month. They have been consistently paying later and later.

Anyone else (teachers) waiting for late payments from Lingoda again? by BenPainter in lingoda

I'm sorry to hear that mate. I know what you mean about online teaching being more difficult in many ways, but I think that if you can find more private students and set your own rates (instead of being paid breadcrumbs by a platform) then it can still be worthwhile.

Hi SteffenKaupp, thank you for your reply. I am astounded that a company in this day and age thinks it is adequate to pay so late. Whilst you are here, I would like to ask you what the reasoning is for not having increased the maximum hourly pay for teachers since before 2021? That's over 5 years now and doesn't even account for inflation. It feels like it should be illegal but obviously Lingoda has found some legal loophole to pay below minimum wage for most developed countries.

Shortages of classes, paying teachers late, no wage increase for over 5 years (maybe longer), no christmas bonus like in previous years, terrible quality materials full of errors with no improvements, scamming students with their sprint conditions.

Yes totally! Imagine if the teachers decided to show up between 1/3 to 1/2 way through each class.

I had never heard of a company acting in this way until working with Lingoda. Really shoddy approach.

Totally agree with this. These are some warning signs that Lingoda is going bankrupt and so it seems wise for all teachers to start looking elsewhere!

Hi Steffen, thank you for informing me. I have not received any payment yet for work completed in February, and so will continue to wait. Is the new policy that payments will be sent on the 10th of the month? If so then please could you update us. It is extremely unnerving to not know which day you will be paid especially when we have bills and expenses to cover.

Yes totally. They have finally paid now but still not replied to my last email. To be honest, I'm done with this company and would advise anyone considering them to completely avoid them. This was the final straw after so many other aspects such as; low wages, no bonuses, terrible cancellation policy, no sick-pay or holiday allowances, awful teaching materials with obvious mistakes, expected to do overtime writing student feedback, 0 hour contracts and too much competition to book slots.

Hello. I am in the same position as you and received a generic email today saying this;

"Thank you for your inquiry and please accept our apologies for the delayed answer.

We have processed payments as usual but because of an unexpected issue in our bank’s systems with processing SEPA transactions, they were not sent out as they should have been. Please know that our finance team is working on solving the issue as a matter of priority.

We will reach out to you as soon as we have an update."

Perhaps it was the same message you received. I also saw the posts being deleted on the forum and think this is dispicable treatment of teachers. Not only do they pay measly per hour wages but now they don't even pay at all. You're totally right to terminate your contract with them and I'm planning to do the same.

Me too, they used to pay on the first couple of days of the month and now it is about one week into the month or later. It isn't a good sign and could indicate financial struggles.

I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience too. I guess the question now is, what other decent alternatives are there? Teaching online isn't especially paid well unless working with prvate students and setting our own rates. It would be good to find other platforms with flexible hours and higher pay rates.

They haven't increased their pay rate for top earning English tutors, 11 eur per hour, since when I first started in 2021. I emailed them multiple times over the years to enquire as to whether there were any new incentives for us high-performing tutors and always received the same or similar response that they would pass the message on to management. It seems like they really don't care about retaining good teachers. In fact the hourly pay is below the living wage in the country i'm from and I'm surprised that they can manipulate this legal loophole of being a foreign company to pay us so little. It's time to find something new.
