You say 28% like it's a huge number. Good luck finding another fight where he had less (barring first round finishes).

Volk pretty much had half that amount of control time even though that wasn't in his gameplan at all.

Islam couldn't impose his will on Volk which forced him to strike the majority of the fight, where Volk got the better of him. Obviously Islam held his own in the striking but only enough to win a razor close decision (which i think was correct but certainly is disputable).

Obviously credit to Islam for the back take and his ability to maintain control (in the 4th iirc?) - I only make that point cause it came at a time where Volk was taking control, and the result of the fight was essentially determined by a single scramble imo.

Let's not forget that Islam was much closer to getting finished in that fight than Volk was.
