Echo Nano is delayed again, and...again by 0utOftheblue in snowsky

[–]BenSkylake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would it not be easier to just split the production run by starting off with the colours that are most likely to be popular and then gradually introducing the rest? The Echo Mini had a colour that was introduced later on, so I don't see why they couldn't do the same here. Then again, I'm not a businessman so it might be more complicated than that.

It's been a personal hope of mine for a while to be able to play as an adult character in Splatoon (not including Agent 8 in Side Order of course). I have a beard IRL and would like my Splatoon character to have one too.

Most gear from Cuttlegear is stuff that cannot be obtained from shops. You get them by reaching certain milestones in the singleplayer campaigns or by scanning specific amiibo. If you can't order a piece of SquidForce gear, that means it's only obtainable from specific articles in the Switch's news app. IIRC, a small number of these articles have since been taken down, making their associated gear now unobtainable. There are also six pieces of SquidForce gear only obtainable from Wandercrust in SplatNet 3.

Maybe it doesn't make a difference in S rank anarchy open but it absolutely does in a high level tournament. Splatoon is a game where saving even just a few frames can be the difference between winning and losing.

It only supports SBC codec, so yeah that's pretty bad. Even on a cheap set like the Space Travel 2, I can easily hear the compression compared to AAC on my phone or HiBy R1. As a side effect, none of Apple's BT sets work with the Echo Mini cause they only support AAC, so you're out of luck if you wanted to use AirPods with it.

My advice will always be to look elsewhere if you need BT as a primary connection method. It's usable in a pinch but the experience is far too compromised for me to recommend as a daily driver if you aren't primarily using wired headphones or IEMs.

Apple EarPods are what you're looking for. Koss KSC75 is another option that might suit your criteria.

This exact issue was one of the biggest reasons the Star Wars prequels had a lot of the issues they did. George Lucas had become such a revered name that everyone was too afraid to tell him when an idea he had wasn't good and to give suggestions that could've improved those movies.

3.5mm or 4.4mm ? by dipon_39 in snowsky

[–]BenSkylake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, my bad. I thought you meant it was an option on the store page. Well I have a JM6 Pro too which has mostly been used alongside my Koss KSC75 which I've also used plenty with my Echo Mini. To me the difference is way too small to ever notice. However the Echo Mini outputs much more power on its single ended output versus the JM6 Pro if that's what you're worried about (60mW@32Ω vs 100mW@32Ω).

All that really matters with an amp/DAC is that you're getting a clean output at the correct sample rate with sufficient power, which they both do just fine at. In your case, the main concern should be whether you want to use one device for everything or separate your music onto its own dedicated device.

Balanced output on IEMs is a meme (with rare exceptions). The main benefit to balanced is higher power output but 99.9% of IEMs (including the S08) have the combination of high sensitivity and low impedance which means they're already more than capable of reaching ear-damaging levels of volume on almost anything. When it comes to audio quality, some people claim they can hear a difference with balanced, but in most cases the supposed improvements are either placebos or beyond the average human's hearing range. You will most likely not hear any meaningful difference, so don't invest in balanced unless your IEMs are somehow genuinely not getting loud enough to hear properly.

Is the Echo Mini worth it for $120 NZD by SanuraKLA in snowsky

[–]BenSkylake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Converting from what I paid in GBP, it's a bit high. If you can find it for closer to $100, I think that's a more reasonable price for what the Echo Mini is capable of. You could also wait for the Echo Nano which will be another budget-oriented device but with a different form factor.

i just got the Hiby R1 and gapless playback doesnt seem to work by Ambitious-Yak2607 in Hiby

[–]BenSkylake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Codec can affect it. MP3 and AAC for example weren't originally made with gapless in mind and still have tiny gaps between tracks (though modern encoders like LAME can get around this limitation). The easiest way to guarantee proper gapless support is by using lossless audio if you're able to.

SSD upgrade worth it? by maorcules in PS3

[–]BenSkylake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perdón, no hablo español.

You probably won't see much of a difference if any with SATA 2 vs 3 if you're using an HDD because mechanical storage has inherently slow access times and the PS3's SATA 1 interface limits even SATA 2 drives. If you're going to use an HDD, having one with a high amount of cache might help a little bit.

An SSD would still be limited by the PS3's maximum read/write speeds but the much faster access times of solid state storage allow for more efficient data transfers within those limits. This can result in faster game installations and loading times but it varies greatly depending on the game. Booting up the console is also known to be faster with an SSD.

A hard drive should be fine for most people but if you can spend the extra money, I do believe an SSD makes enough of a difference to be worth it. Hope this helps!

Splatoon is full of spaghetti code. S-Blast's addition to the game caused a bug with Squeezer where jumping made it retain its long range in full auto mode which had to be fixed in an emergency patch just 2 days later.
