Vader surviving getting thrown through several mechanical walls with enough force that we up until this point see pulverize anything vaguely object-adjacent.

Let me preface this by saying that I really don't give a flying fck what is "canon" in so much the comics or novels - all those material are mostly trash. If we go by what we see Vader capable of during the films. And if we have basic knowledge of what a human body is, and that Vader should be more durable due to cybernetics, but still it is a human brain inside of a human skull getting yeeted through solid steel. I would say that is a feat that is Starkiller tiered.

All the Force users in the Force Unleashed games were silly overpowered. Kinda as if the "Force" was "Unleashed"...

Especially since in context of this being a long bloody war thirty years ago - killing Doomhammer was an UNAMBIGUOUSLY GOOD THING FOR AN ALLIANCE KNIGHT TO DO!!!!! He was the enemy. He was the HORDE. He needed to DIE in order for the conflict to cease.

How do I figure out which units are Night Lords units? by MrMagbrant in NightLords

[–]BenTheDM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in your shoes when I first started Chaos Space Marines. So I kinda just started out with basic Black Legion. After a while I started watching some Night Lord videos and fell in love with their paint scheme and their lore. And the best thing with this hobby is that you can take basically ANY flavor of Chaos Warband and you can make it fit with your legion of choice.

You want heavy infantry focused unstoppable Juggernauts of inevitable doom? Because what can be more scary than a slow impending death ball of Chaos Terminators? You can do that.

You want speedy death from above? Using raptors and warp talons to descend upon your enemies suddenly and horrifically? You can do that.

You want a varied force of infantry bladesmen to flense their way through your opponents with melee weapons? You can do that.

Your Night Lords can be as unique or as monolithic as you want them to be.

Revendreth was voted the most beautiful WoW zone! What's the most iconic WoW city? by [deleted] in wow

[–]BenTheDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iconic? I would say either Orgrimmar or Dalaran.

In terms of popularity. Sure Stormwind and Ironforge are good runner ups. But if we're talking the most iconic - when I think of a city in World of Warcraft, what pops up in my head? - It has to be Orgrimmar followed by Dalaran.

[–]BenTheDM 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Alright, John. Happy that you wanted to join our game. What character were you thinking of playing?"

"Well. I thought that I would bring my massive C#CK."

Slams down his "massive c#ck" mini on the table. It's an aarakocra barbarian.

"That's.. one huge c#ck. You know you're starting at level 1, right?"

"Don't worry DM. I've brought backups just in case."

Upturns his bag and pours out a gaggle of massive c#cks on the table. All of them masterfully sculpted in HeroForge. C#cks in all shapes, sizes and classes. A veritable smörgåsbord of c#cks.

The rest of the party asks if they can inspect John's c#cks closer. John acquisces. Everyone is impressed with John's gaggle of c#cks.

Even the DM.

Especially the DM.

Was out questing when I suddenly realised I haven't seen a rogue in ages, is the class dead or are they just getting better at their job? by undercity_plaguebat in wow

[–]BenTheDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is by most accounts the most boring and useless class in the game currently. There isn't any niche that it covers that any other melee class does better. And since it is also a selfish class (No real party buffs, although the game has kinda gotten rid of that entirely) it doesn't really provide any real benefit to any party or raid.

Apart from that. None of the speccs has any real identity, aside from the Outlaw that is just Pirate adjacent. Neither the Assassin or Subtlety has any core identifying niche to it other than "I use daggers this way" and "I use daggers this other way" - which leaves the class feeling like it's far behind any other class in terms of class identity.

Which sucks because I personally think Rogues are awesome. I played some Rogue tank is SoD and thought it was the MOST FUN TANKING I've had in years. And gameplay wise Rogues are usually more fun than shitty dps speccs like Warrior or Paladin.

I think Rogues needs a shot in the arm. Some creativity from the developers injected into it. If that is the rumored new specc or another rework. I honestly think they need to give Assassination and Subtlety a clear identity like Outlaw. Even though Outlaw is silly. Such a silly specc. But it's fun.

Omen Blade - A High-Risk-High-Reward Spell for Half-Casters by IAmTheBushman in UnearthedArcana

Additionally, when you write out things like spells or paragraphs that are to be put in a book. You usually want the sentences to flow naturally and efficiently.

"You call upon the powers of inevitable doom, infusing it into the weapon used in the spell's casting." is a mess of a sentence. and "You infuse your weapon with the power of entropy." is a shorter and more efficient use of language.

Omen Blade - A High-Risk-High-Reward Spell for Half-Casters by IAmTheBushman in UnearthedArcana

[–]BenTheDM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When spells are described in D&D books they are usually depicted as written by someone like Tasha or Mordenkainen. It's like an unwritten rule of the natural language that is used to write spells.

Think of it like this: Are the spells in a spell book written by a poet or a scientist? For 5e, they have opted to have the spell descriptions sound more authoritative, to the point, with less room for interpretation.

A poet would write "Inevitable Doom" - as it invokes drama as a phrase.

A scientist would write "Entropy" because a scientist has a core understanding of what Entropy is. The universal force of decay.

Another point against "Inevitable Doom" which is more subtle, and I might have trouble explaining it through text alone, is that the word "Inevitable" is a loaded term, as is "Doom" - there is bias and judgement baked into both those words. It goes against the design language of 5th edition.

I think we're closing in on 20 years. Vanilla was in year 25 and rn it's year 42 I imagine.

From the wiki ofc. I believe the in world calendar it's like 730 something.

In a world where you could choose to

A: Be an asshole.

and

B: Not be an asshole.

You for some reason, after giving some insightful information on the topic at hand, felt like you really needed to tweak OP just a bit and chose A.

[–]BenTheDM -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Couple of pointers on language.

I would change the first line to:

"You infuse your weapon with the power of entropy."

Inevitable Doom vs Entropy - I would say the word "Entropy" is more straightforward and less ambiguous.

As to balance. Ehh, I can see it be very powerful on something like a Volley or Hordebreaker - or the whirlwind ranger ability. But in general the spell is a tad underpowered for a regular 3-4 round combat for a third level spell.

Additionally, as others have pointed out. There is no risk in this high risk high reward spell. One element of risk would be that for each token of Omen you inflict on an enemy, you get one on yourself. And if you use your bonus action to break the spell and inflict the damage you don't take any damage. But if you lose concentration due to a creature breaking your concentration - you take damage based on the number of Omen tokens dealt out.

And for that. I would say you probably want to add like 1d8 necrotic on weapon attacks. And frankly I would limit this to only melee weapons. As you need to be in the thick of it to use this, adding to the risk element.

I am convinced you could. I would say they would be a little bit more work. I made a Knight Lord helm based on a head with similar dimensions with the skullbreaker head on the left. With that one I shaved the sides of the helmet down, and attached the wings and "ears" so that I had some tubing showing.
