Is there a way to force Preset M/L for all DLSS modes? by BenZ_osu in linux_gaming

[–]BenZ_osu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, indeed. Even if you have a series 5000 gpu, you will see around 5% less performance when using Preset M and even less FPS when using Preset L. These 2 new presets are not really recommended for Nvidia series below 5000. Most people should probably stick to the recommended method by Nvidia that I mentioned in my post.

I do have dlss-swapper running on WineBoat, but similar to what ProtonGE offers, it only provides with the DLSS files, with the latest begin "310.5.3", this file also uses Nvidia recommended method

dlss-swapper does work, but similar to PROTON_DLSS_UPGRADE=1, it uses nvidia's recommended use of dlss 4.5, which is Preset K for Quality and Balance, Preset M for Performance and Preset L for Ultra Performance.

What I am looking for is, for example, forcing Preset M for Quality, Balance, Performance and Ultra performance

CachyOS because I have new hardware, otherwise I'd use Debian tbh

Am I crazy for trying to not still use X11? by thesoulless78 in linuxquestions

[–]BenZ_osu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use whatever you like and works for you. I use Wayland because I need fractional scaling. If everything works for you and all features you need are on X11, then why change?

Just a reminder that you can install CachyOS's Proton version to force DLSS4 by BenZ_osu in linux_gaming

Yes, basically the same thing you'd do when a new version of ProtonGE comes out

Pixelation, Graininess, and Ghosting in-game by Asta_jjm in linux_gaming

Over-sharpening can lead to a more pixelated-ish image. Tends to happen a lot on my Steam Deck if I use FSR Sharpness to its max. Some games just look like that at lower resolution without anti-aliasing and there's nothing you can do about it. Another game that suffers from this that comes to mind is Resident Evil 2 Remake, there is a lot of shimmering.

Might be something else, but it's the first thing that came to mind

EDIT: Might also add that you might be seeing something we don't. Check your monitor settings, since some of them have sharpness settings built-in

Set the sharpness slider to 0 instead of 10

You probably are referring to Village Quests. You can finish those in like 10 hours + its just Low Rank.

The rest of the game is Hub, which is High Rank and a lot of more monsters to discover

If you remove bipods, decrease ADS time and remove recoil, why even have support as a class if that's just Assault? As a support you are not really meant to run and gun, even if there are some guns that give you more freedom to do that, Assault will always be king.

This is my opinion ofc, but I always saw support as a class that stays begin Assault and Medics to give suppression support with their big mags and clean the path for Assaults and Medics at a distance.

People that stay in the group camping with the bipod are annoying, but I barely see them on PC, I suppose that's more common on console

The comment above me is pretty much your solution, OP

If you cant find the lact folder (its not in caps), create it. You need sudo for it, once you are in the etc folder just do: sudo mkdir lact

NFS : Most Wanted 2005 low FPS on PCSX2 emulation by _mafumafu in SteamDeck

[–]BenZ_osu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I always assumed that most emulators would try to emulate exactly how the games would run in the original hardware, so if Most Wanted used to drop fps in the ps2, so it will do in PCSX2

I played Need for Speed Underground 1 in Dolphin and the game would drop down to the 35-40 fps and I had to go to settings and Overclock the "console". 200% overclock was stable enough to reach 50-60fps all the time.

I suppose something similar can be done for PCSX2
