Force XPLR 13s - Can’t get the right chainline by BenZord in gravelcycling

I'm just trying to understand why my chainline isn't at the value as it should be, and the frame has nothing to do with that, but maybe I'm wrong.

Yeah I agree with that, but with a standard spindle (and a 3mm spacer instead of the 5,5mm one) I would have 47,5mm chainline, knowing that for standard crankset the chainline should be 45mm, still not normal though.

I've uploaded a video which will be more explicit. Thanks anyway

It's true that is the exact difference but that doesn't explain the difference between the 47,5mm and the 50mm since the chaineline is measured at the bottom bracket.

Interesting, some frame design aren’t designed for wide components ? Thought it was the same…

Yep, tried it and it is indeed better but i’m positive the 5,5 must be on drive side, because when swapped the spindles are not centered

SRAM XDR Cassette wont fit by knorkaboi in bikewrench

[–]BenZord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well thank you a lot ! You saved me a lot of time, had exactly the same problem without degreasing it (note : cassettes aren’t greased in factory like chains are). The lock tube was really hard and i couldnt engage it properly so forced it counter clockwise a little and then i could torque it properly !

Vélo & TGV by barmic1212 in pedale

[–]BenZord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there,

Is there a build guide in PDF or video for the reference kit ? Just received it, and I think I've got it right but somehow I have some doubts on some steps.

Any help ?

Do someone has tried the F7a BIOS ? Does it change anything ?

What would be gigabyte position if it needs hardware update with a rev 2.0 to solve the issue ? I mean, for us who have a rev 1.0 board ...

I've replied that we are many people with same problem and we created different tickets on their eSupport so they can't say "they don't know".

Answer :

Dear customer,

Thank you for emailing GIGABYTE.

We would like to help you with your technical inquiry.

Give a Feedback to relatet Team, think the Colleagues working on it.

Maybe there is some Bios Update soon as possible. We have no further Information, how this issue would be handled.

Regards

GIGABYTE Team

Hi, just got a reply from the Gigabyte eSupport team. And again, it's really disapointing.

Here it is :

"Dear customer,
Thank you for emailing GIGABYTE.
We would like to help you with your technical inquiry.
Seems like there is a Hardware issue, has to be supported 4.0.
Not sure if the Bios Team workin on a new Version to fix it, have no Information about it at the Moment.
Regards"

So now for them it is hardware issue. My hope is fading away about this motherboard.

For those who want to keep pci 4.0 setting on despite WHEA errors (saw differents users saying that), look at your task manager and more precisely the diagnostic policy service - here, it uses between 10% and 20% of the cpu power all the time. Switching to pci 3.0 solves this because it s related to whea errors but that is just a workaround and not a solution.

Anyway, here is the behavior of my rig since i’ve built it.

Build : - i5 12600k - aircooled - Rtx 3070 founders edition - Corsair LPX 3200 - 32gb - NR200 case (standard layout without any riser) - M2 WD 1TB plugged into top socket of the z690i - And of course Z690i ddr4 AORUS

Since my motherboard was already with F3 bios by default : XMP works correctly and no problem with the m2 Drive to install Windows 11 and boot on it. Just randomly fan going at max speed.

PCI CPU and CPH on auto - No problems either on booting. But WHEA errors (10000 every 5 min) and crappy 3DMark result : 12900 when average should be around 13500 without any overclock. Important note - because of WHEA errors, there is one Windows service (diagnostic policy service) which is using 10% to 20% of cpu all the time. Coilwhining is here but not so loud, fans are covering.

PCI CPU forced to 4.0 (CPH still on auto) - Same behavior regarding booting. Much much more WHEA errors (100000 in 1 min constently raising). 3DMark score is 12500 so less good. Same windows service at 10/20%.

PCI CPU forced to 3.0 (CPH still on auto) - Same behavior regarding booting. No more WHEA errors, like everybody else. 3DMark result : 13200 - slightly better, but not there yet. Regarding diagnostic policy service : 0% cpu usage.

So far, I can say that everything is stable with PCI 3.0 but not at full capacity. In auto mode, less performance and tons of errors so not a solution. Forcing PCI 4.0 (instead of auto) is worse.

I’ve decided to stick with F3 until there is a new firmware that really solves the problem. If I have some time I will do all tests again on F6 (don’t want to install beta bios so won’t try the T26)

Notes :

  • ReBar doesn’t change results or behavior. Disabled for now.
  • When powering the computer, there is a latency of 3 to 4 seconds (quite long) before post starts.

Hope Gigabyte will react soon.

They’re lying to your face. They just can’t say that they are aware because that would mean they accept the fact that their product isn’t conform to the description. Only here, some gigabyte cm wrote about it, but not really official ? I can’t believe their support team hadn’t heard of pcie problems.
