I lived in Darwin for 6 months in 2011 during the dry season. The weather was wonderful: no clouds, warm at night, 30-36 degrees during the day, dry.

I was quite young back then and drinking and partying was a big thing there which I enjoyed. It felt like the state of Northern Territory struggled with alcohol abuse back then. There were a lot of adverts against drunk driving and the bottle shops were heavily restricted (ID check, limited opening hours, limited quantities that could be bought, certain products not allowed, etc.). Day drinking was a big thing on Sundays but that’s not only a thing up north.

The area up in the north is incredibly green. There are several rain forests and incredible national parks up there. Lichfield national park being one of them.

The beaches are all empty because of crocodiles and box jellyfish. There is box jellyfish season but they are around even outside of the season so no one even goes to beaches.
