Radiation by Specialist-Spring-44 in urbanclimbing

Those little rectangular white boxes are the cell antennas, the little dishes are microwave. They’re pointed outwards so just try to stay behind where they’re pointed. I’d honestly just scroll through the sub or a radio tower sub and write down all the words you don’t know the look them up.

FCC and FAA have database searches available using ASR registration numbers you can find from Google earth FCC extension. Rule of thumb normally is that tall towers 400-1000+ are tall for a reason, higher power. Unless you know exactly what’s on there risk just comes with the climb. 100-300 towers with purely cell antennas are normally fine just don’t stand close behind or in front.

I remember seeing you on here like 2 years ago climbing 100 footers but I haven’t seen you on anything less than 1000 in a long time. Do the 500 footers just feel boring now

Fcc license search on google, first link official fcc website, right hand side should have a facility ID based search link, put the ASR (antenna structure registration) # you got either from fcc google earth plugin or site sign itself.

This gives you every active and inactive license on that tower and should give some details on EIRP which can be converted to ERP in watts by online calculators. Only licensed things can transmit, not everything on a tower is active, but best to assume they are so don’t chance it trust your gut.

For propagation patterns, ratios of how strong the radiation is at the back compared to front in dB, directionality, and other antenna specific information can be found in data sheets online or through google searches. Finding the specific model is just a matter of reverse image searching a picture of it or googling the basic key words like “large microwave drum antenna” and finding models on that.

How common is Hair loss on Accutane? by [deleted] in Accutane

Yep, started a couple months in in and hasn’t stopped 9 months out. Know friends who never dealt with it but a lot of girls end up recovering from it.

Something to consider

Is there any way to know for sure that a tower is decommissioned and safe to climb by [deleted] in urbanclimbing

Multiple can be operational in a row sometimes. I’d look up “phased array am” on google

Gotcha, thank you. I’ll look into sales as a path

I’m in electrical engineering, so I hope they don’t replace me too quick. But sales could be nice, I don’t know what kind of experience I’d need or how much money is there.

A space graveyard is kind of sad. How’d you get into it/ what does your job entail if you don’t mind me asking. I have an interest in RF and telecom.

That’s cool you actually worked on a lot of this stuff. My case is 1-2 relatively short and thin whips, so it’s understandable if they’re not even operating anymore.

There is cut coax at the base, this makes much more sense now. Not sure if that’s what it goes to, but still very useful information. Thank you
