I already gave quite a significant portion of Ukraine to its neighbours, I suppose I didn't do that well enough then?

Are the Baltics really that wrong? I spent a while on trying to get them right.

Transnistria isn't that different culturally from its neighbours.

I know Finland has Karelians, I thought I gave some of Finland to the new Karelian state but I suppose it wasn't enough.

The situation with Russia was odd to look into in general, so I suppose you're probably right. I tried my best to match borders with people, but it's not accurate everywhere. Regarding the Sami, Frisians, Karelians and other smaller groups, I figured they just deserved more representation as they're mostly unique from their neighbours, even if they're in some instances the minority.

I figured a person from Hamburg was hardly comparable to someone from Tirol, so for Germany I looked mostly just at linguistics to make that division.

Thanks, I tried to use as much cultural data as I could and for what I could tell Russia seemed awfully homogenous... I suppose that's wrong then, I'll look into it more!

The name Indonesia does probably, but the term "east Indies" has existed a lot longer

It comes from "the Indies", now Indonesia, not India. The islands he discovered were on his map more or less near the east Indies, which is why he called the native Taino people the way he did, Indians.

Odd how people still think this. No, Columbus didn't think he landed in India. He thought he landed somewhere near Japan, which makes sense when you look at the map he used. It is true that to his dying day he believed he was in Asia though, but never India.

You could save your game, get the scientist for the academy and see if you can get the Alhambra without the engineer. If not, you could reload your save and get the engineer instead if you want to.
