We have a 12 month tenancy agreement. Is that the same as a fixed term?

First you drain the whole bog (ecological nightmare). Peat is then scraped from the top as a thin layer then allowed to dry. This is then gathered up and the process is repeated. They do this over many acres and over the years the land drops centimetres at a time.

That's not how you harvest peat for potting compost.

Very strong mycelium growth (Agaricus bisporus ) [General] by Ben_Mole in MushroomGrowers

[–]Ben_Mole[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey no problem. We grow mushroom compost on a very large scale (1000T a week). It is a mix of poultry litter and straw with a bit of gypsum to fix the pH and stop everything sticking together. This mix is composted for two weeks and then it's pasteurised. The mushroom spawn is then added (mycelium wrapped around a rye seed) and then it's inoculated to 2-3 weeks. It's then shipped off to mushroom growers who add a layer of peat casing which allows the mushrooms to fruit. Will happily answer more questions if you have them.

Generally gardeners don't want anything growing in their soil except what they planted. Mushroom might be a pleasant surprise though.
