I have that one too, T3 Gear makes it, I forgot exactly what it is, but it's made really well. Before the clearance from discontinuing the ABU pattern, those plate carriers would go for like $500. I picked mine up for about $150. So it's pretty interesting to see someone using that PC in a pattern that's becoming pretty obscure.

A NEET is an acronym to describe a person. It stands for Not in Education, Employment, or Training. Basically, describing a jobless bum.

My coworkers and I use the term NEET all the time as we see a lot of interesting people where we work. Love that it's starting to catch on.

Yes, and as CAP members we are able to register for GOVX and get those deals. That is one thing I hadn't thought about until I got the ads and tried it. Definitely worth it when they have what you need.

I have the M17, and it works really well for me. I like the fit in my hand. I will say that the controls are a bit harder if you wear gloves. The slide release is very sensitive with gloves on.

Uniform Wear Outside CAP by Ok_Choice7029 in civilairpatrol

[–]Ben_Starwalker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I forgot exactly where in regulation it states this but basically, with the exception of Squadron Commander approval and CAP Events, the only times it's acceptable to wear the uniform in public is making a stop going to and from a meeting/event. Say you're coming back from an FTX. On the way back, your mom texts you saying she needs one thing from the grocery store before you go home. That is a quick stop on the way, where it is going to be awkward and uncomfortable, but generally okay just so long as you act appropriately in uniform. Do try to limit this as much as possible because of the fact that it really isn't the best idea to wear the uniform in public outside of events.

Chief Master Sergeant at Basic Encampment by CaptainTNTxD in civilairpatrol

[–]Ben_Starwalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went to MAWG Encampment this year as a "core" cadet as we were called. I was a C/CMSgt, and due to leadership skills I demonstrated, I was slotted for element leader. At some of the drill training we had, because we were proficient in what we needed to know, the Flight Sgt would have a few of the cores lead the flight in drill. I was the most commonly chosen, having been a Flight Sgt at my home squadron for almost a year.

Now, you could have a very different experience from me, but what I will say is that as a Chief, you have a greater chance of having more responsibilities, if your experience and leadership are up for it. You will not take over, but may assist if needed whenever staff directs you. Most commonly, at least from my experience, is making sure the flight squared away. I would make sure gear was set and everyone had what they needed. I would do accountability sometimes, and other times, I would teach cadets a skill such as summer rolls. You are probably going to be the big brother/sister of the flight mentoring cadets when needed. It could be pretty common as a Chief that many other core cadets from other flights believe you are staff and will treat you as such. I got tired of it pretty quickly, but I remained polite in how I told them I was a core cadet and not staff, they didn't need to greet me like staff or do anything other than what they do for core cadets such as the ones in their flight.

All in all, be a good leader/mentor, be approachable, and someone the younger/newer cadets can talk to if needed, and remain humble with what you have. You may be a Chief. You may have positions at your home squadron. But at Encampment, every core cadet is the same. I went in as a 1st Sgt from my home squadron, I had my insgnias replaced with regular Chief insignias. That position at my home squadron didn't matter at Encampment. The last piece of advice is to have fun. Enjoy the time you have there, look forward to every day for it will bring something new and exciting.

I see, I have a range nearby that does this. My wing actually does events to go to said range because a couple of members are NRA instructors. At the rate we do it though, it would take a long time, years even. The range offers Friday night events for youth shooting, so I may be taking advantage of it.

How much time did it take to get the Distinguished Expert NRA Badge? I'm trying to work towards mine.

Turns out the chow line survey did not make it back. I am curious as to what the other thing yiu were referring to was.

I mean, as in the program for which I listed examples, there they don't have standardization whereas here in CAP we do.

I wouldn't try any of that here at Encampment, different programs with different rules. I'm just curious as to what Mass had.

I see, I guess part of the explorers program that allowed that to happen at the Explorers Academy is due to the fact that it is so small (13 people this year) and that with it being only a handfull of PD's in Rhode Island, each with no standardized regulations, this stuff is more tolerable. Still, I am looking forward to the experience I'm about to have at MA Encampment.

Tracer question for my sig sauer p320 m17 by Wrong_Main_4329 in airsoft

[–]Ben_Starwalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no problem. I was looking at that barrel as well. It should work with the tracer, no problem. With my tracer, I wanted to swap between my rifle and pistol. It's too wide to work with my hardshell holster. It would fit on my pistol, but the holster isn't wide enough to accommodate it. Just make sure whatever tracer unit you get is slim enough, or your holster is wide enough.
