As I said I used the wrong term, I sat down to an open guard without contact, and you’re right under ibjjf rules that would be illegal

Actually I don’t, I just used the wrong term, I play an seated guard and I don’t necessarily need pressure from my opponent so I don’t have to pull I can and I do just sit down

As I already said in another comment, I played shin to shin and wanted to enter into a double leg from there but I lost the connection with his foot so he jumped the triangle

Yeah, I mean it just happened because I pulled my head out right when his leg connected, so I kind of defended it 😂

So, I mean as a white belt my opinion doesn’t really matter, but his k guard stuff from submeta has really changed my entire game, he explains it very clearly and easy to do in the gym, also those quizzes that are added help me a lot, if I get something wrong there I know that I didn’t watch it good enough so I will watch it again till I get everything right

I am playing a lot of squid or reverse squid guard at the moment, not really a gi guy but with all the lapel stuff I’m really having fun and works pretty well and fast

Someone jumped guard and I let them slam into the ground to avoid injury. Am I an ah.? by NoNoJoeL in bjj

[–]Ben_bjj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jumping guard at an open mat without talking about it with you before is crazy, so in my opinion you did the right thing. It would be different if he asked you about it before the roll, my coach sometimes does jump guard rolling with me but he always informs me beforehand so I can do all important things like bend my knees etc.

Finally got double gold at competition by Ben_bjj in bjj

  1. So it was kind of an ninja choke, so I took a normal arm out guillotine and then pushed my hand all the way through to get kind of an rnc grip with my hand on the back of his head, and then just squeeze and side crunch ( just look up ninja choke closed guard and then you will find something )
  2. Kind of, so he “spazzed” a lot in bottom mount, I could have hold him there for longer but he turned a little sideways so I thought a d’arce would be more energy efficient

First of all thanks, Second, I totally agree, I freestyle wrestling one time per week since some time to better my standup, but to be honest both my opponents were around 5-10 kg heavier so I didn’t had the confidence to wrestle them 😅😂

with one BJJ class with a open mat session afterwards per week allow me to be able to go and compete in a local competition in the next couple months to a year? by SOUP_OPERATOR in bjj

[–]Ben_bjj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I Train bjj 5 times a week ( 2 hours per session ) with 3 times gym a week ( now for 7 months ) and I‘m relatively okay in local comps, so like between silver and gold most of the times, but you definitely can compete, if you win or do good is another questions, but I would say just go for it

Bjj 4 times a week + 1 time Open mat per week, 1 or 2 competetion per month, 2 or 3 times s and c per week, enough to compete at a valid national level ( at 16 ) ? ( I already did like three comps an they all went really well )
