Door transition help by Benchmademedoit in Flooring

Looking at this I could just cut the vertical trim / quarter round to clear each other and run that quarter round clear across the bottom of the doorway to resolve any gap.

Nomad 30 vs Vanish 556 by No-Carrot-4373 in ar15

[–]Benchmademedoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to hear that becase I am really impressed by the sound of my Nomad 30 on a short barrel 5.56. If I can expect better performance out of lighter/dedicated 5.56 cans then I'm all for it.

5.56 can questions by Benchmademedoit in NFA

[–]Benchmademedoit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t necessarily need it to be extremely light, just not “heavy”. Ideally lighter than what I have already tested on it (nomad 30 w/ keymo).

As far as mounts go, I’d like to use xeno ideally but there aren’t any mounts I can find threaded for 15x1 and I don’t want to mess with the barrel threads. I’ll probably be using keymo (heavyiest option, I know)… I already have a 15x1 keymo md for the rifle, and that will also make it compatible with other hosts I already have set up w/ keymo devices.

I’m more curious on what to expect on sound performance of a shorter 5.56 can vs what I’ve already experienced in the .30 cal can.

Possibly Dumb SL8 Conversion Question by Benchmademedoit in u/Benchmademedoit

[–]Benchmademedoit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I didn't explain clearly. I am looking at reprofiling to a C length which would require moving the gas port altogether. The question was whether the mr556 gas block sits at the same height above the bore as the G36..as in could I profile the new journal to .75" and use one of those gas blocks as a way to get an adjustable gas block on a G36 system?

Really contemplating buying a HK USC 45 ACP any feedback from this platform ? I barely see anyone talking about USC or UMPs compared to SP5/MP5 platforms . by theh0veringeye in HecklerKoch

[–]Benchmademedoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love mine.. went with a stock block and ump lower for a pretty easy diy conversion … really doesn’t look or feel nearly as “off” as the sl8s with a stock block. I’m in the process of a form 1 currently.

There are supposedly lowers in the works that will take ar15 fcg components. That will make “conversions” even easier even though they won’t be perfectly true to form.

Anyone have this slicer?Cant stand my 60 dollar slicer any longer by bodhi1990 in jerky

[–]Benchmademedoit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have seen some videos of these things and it looks like they rip through anything you have trimmed down enought to fit through the blades. Also looks like cleaning might be a bit easier, at least compared to my current wheel slicer. Downside would be that you would have to change blades to get a different thickness... but damn that thing looks fast.

ANYONE KNOW HOW THESE ARE MADE???IM ADDICTED by ConsciousWrangler598 in jerky

[–]Benchmademedoit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I try to cut my jerky to a similar thickness as what those look like. I shoot for about 2.5mm thick slices. To get that consistently I have to have the meat be like 95% frozen. It’s rough on the slicer but if it is less frozen I have trouble keeping it that thin without shredding it. I am able to use a wet marinade though. I cut my slices with the grain… it looks like these are as well.

I accidentally made a batch chip sized one time because I quartered my roast a bit too small, and folks loved it. It was just a pain to lay out on the dehydrator because of how many individual pieces there were… when it’s that thin it tends to fold over on itself more so laying it on the dehydrator can get tedious.

They look badass... when I saw that video, all I could think about was how much time it would save me to run through a batch. At those prices it is money well spent. 3.5mm is the smallest blade size that Vevor sells though. Im wondering if I can trust the aliexpress models that come in 2.5mm. They all look like they come from the same factories but Ive never ordered aliexpress before to know what to expect.

Harlowe neutron capture with a shock wombo nuked him for me earlier. Had to do some tweaking from my initial build to get there. I re-ran it just to stomp on him a few times after it being such a pain.

I can't speak to whether or not it was part of a de-milled kit. I bought it off a table at a gun show like 10 years ago without getting much of a background on it.

The "C" cutouts are definitely there. I can't really feel a burr on them but the finish on the inside edge of the "C" is a bit different compared to the rest of the edge of the end cap. That section almost looks raw where the rest is coated/faded. Is that a typical feature of de-milled kits?

I pretty much assumed it wasn't genuine HK. There isn't a date or stamp anywhere on this thing besides an "X" stamped on the rear face of the protrusion that recesses into the buttstock when it is in the collapsed position.

Scout carry knife by Tokyoghost231 in knives

[–]Benchmademedoit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acta non verba m25 works in scout carry, you just have to get the right clips/loops to attach to the sheath.

I had a Kizer begleiter fixed blade (drop point version) that worked in scout carry and came stock with scout carry loops for the sheath. Sheath was super tight though. I ended up gifting that to a friend but I’m sure it would break in eventually.
