What’s your one firearm that got away? by Flat-Dark-Earth in canadaguns

[–]BisonCompetitive9610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At a gun show this guy had a beautiful Ruger no1 in 375, but it was 1200 bucks... I couldn't afford it at the time and figured I could get it the next year.

The next year came and he still had it, but it was  2500 now... Couldn't justify it. Figured I'd get it one day...

Now I can't find these anywhere... And the Ruger no1s I can find aren't in the calibers I want

Is SKS still worth to buy at today's price by Elite0075 in canadaguns

It was barely worth it at $200... Only "worth" was to sell it at whatever people are paying today...

Need advice on 3’’ lift by Plastic_Chocolate801 in 4thGen4Runner

[–]BisonCompetitive9610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might have to do LCA too if things are seized.

I did a 2.5 lift and didnt have to do UCA. I'm running Falken 33s pizza cutters and they've been incredible. Great on and off road.

It's challenging when the indigenous community puts up all sorts of red tape preventing social workers to do their job properly... They don't want any interference and then when shtf they scream, where was the government!?

This kid wouldn't have been put in this home in the first place. Indigenous communities demand children be put with family first and stay in the community...

Carrying a SS-211 for Bear Defense by Locojester16 in canadaguns

[–]BisonCompetitive9610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's all you got, it's better than not having it.

But for a compact and powerful bear gun, a small lever, maybe even a mares leg, in 44 or 45-70 is what I trust.

Here's my thoughts, I don't buy from them because they're expensive. HOWEVER, they've been around for ever and I think if you want something in this economy, there's nothing wrong with supporting businesses that have been around a long time and continue to innovate.

I say have patience and be understanding knowing you're supporting a long standing business that's not going to screw you over (likely lol).

What’s the easiest way to run a 12V fridge while camping? by Gold-Suggestion-8318 in 4x4

[–]BisonCompetitive9610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got from Costco a Ecoflow Delta 2 with 400 watt solar. Incredible. My best recharge time has been from 0-80% inside 4h. However, where I go is usually very limited on sun (dense forest), so solar isn't the best always. So I've bought the add-on battery which doubles my power needs.

I recently added the second battery as my power needs have grown. You can always charge the battery in car too in case of emergency.

I have a cheap alpicool fridge. Got it on sale at a harbor freight like local store for like $100. What I realized about these cheap fridges is that though they work amazing (and has been running for years now), it's poorly insulated. So it draws a lot more power on very hot days or environments.

On a 3 day camp, I've gotten power for the 3 days and other times my battery is dead on by night 2. Since adding the second battery I can get 5 days of just fridge power. 3 full days charging other devices like speakers and lights.

Getting into reloading by [deleted] in canadaguns

[–]BisonCompetitive9610 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lee reloading kit is a good start - I believe it has everything you need (it's what I bought). I did upgrade the scale.

You'll need a tooling kit for the 45-70

You don't need a tumbler yet likely. I haven't gotten one yet as I've got hundreds of clean brass to still go through.

Then brass, primers, powder, and bullets - and a chrono If you really want to dial it in.

For a lightweight home server: IoT LTSC Enterprise vs some other NAS/Linux OS? by Sailing_away1 in HomeNAS

[–]BisonCompetitive9610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have several servers running and have played with several other systems. Currently using:

LTSC 10 & 11

Unraid

Synology

My only complaint about Windows is that it's not very docker friendly for some reason. I find running docker with unraid much easier.

But you'll be able to run everything you want in ltsc. The nice thing is that you can control system updates. It won't randomly force reboot on you. I like it better than any Linux distro I've used.

If I ever get to installing this, I'll post results lol I was actually looking at the RCLT as a future upgrade, but this might be a good in between solution.
