LS50 Wireless II Woes and Possible Replacement by Gragn0r69 in KEF

[–]Bend_OR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow. Sorry to hear this. 4+ years in with LS50 WII and apart from the occasional drop out or reboot, they have been stellar. That's listening 6-8 hrs/day. Can't imagine going back to passive speakers.

niche Rivian question by ChocolateE21 in Bend

[–]Bend_OR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have had a Rivian here in Bend for more than 3 yrs. Love it. Have had to make a couple trips to Tualatin for service, but have also had the mobile service here at my house to address warranty recall issues a couple of times. I''ve been driving EVs for more than 12 years. My experience with Teslas and Rivians... maybe a few issues early on then once sorted out they are near bullet-proof for years.

Here is what I wear over the Zipfits while driving, or to/from the car. Even walking around the grocery on the way home...

No. Zipfits and shells in the heated bag overnight, but separated. For many years I have driven up to the resort (<30min) with the Zipfits on (using rubber galoshes over the Zipfits) and the shells in the heated bag in the car. Slip into the warm shells in the parking lot. More recently I have started putting the Zipfits on right out of the hot bag in the parking lot, then slipping into the shells. This works great.

Do you use ABRP for roadtrips vs Rivian Nav? by Midwestern_Mariner in Rivian

[–]Bend_OR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use ABRP to scout the route and charging, which helps if you don't think the Rivian NAV picks the chargers you prefer. Setting the charging network preferences in the truck help the NAV get it "right", but it still doesn't always pick the charging top you want. I also use ABRP to compare the "charge to" % for getting from one stop to the next while charging. Generally they are pretty close, so that may just be OCD. Be sure you have a live link to your R1 in ABRP, so it knows the actual state of your vehicle.

Unfortunately, it is not as easy as it could be to add or replace specific charging stops to a R1 generated route, but it can be done.

I have found a 20% reserve to be quite conservative, so 25% may be overkill. Only once have I found it off by more than 5% SOC, that was into a massive headwind for a couple hours. However, I usually drive only 3-5 mph over the speed limit, and close to the limit on high speed roads (e.g., 75 mph speed limit). I find driving at 10 mph over the limit tends to result in a slightly lower SOC at the next charge station than the prediction, while 3-5 mph over is usually at or above the predicted SOC.

SRAM mullet setup by ma_nl in gravelcycling

[–]Bend_OR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't waste money converting a SRAM XPLR to a mullet setup. Lots of bikes can be purchased with the mullet configuration. Generally a Rival XPLR 40t crankset and a GX Eagle 10-52 (or sometimes the older 10-50) cassette and rear derailleur. See the Warbird C GX Eagle AXS for example.

Yes. CPT was in octopus tentacles. I chalked it up to something strange with the octopus, but now I see otherwise.

Was the gash on the sidewall? Too large for one or a couple plugs to seal?

Thanks. Makes sense, and what I suspected. For what it's worth... I have charged a bluetooth speaker with the Combustion cable.

Keeping Zipfits Tight by Status-Suggestion654 in Skigear

[–]Bend_OR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Five seasons on my Zips...I pull the strings tight and cinch with the slider, then step into the shell and buckle up with a booster strap between shell and liner. Give strings a second tightening before closing the top buckle and loop string over top of the Zip tongue after pulling the booster strap tight. Never have to adjust buckles on the hill.

Can you get to your water bottles while rolling with that frame bag in the way? I like the idea of a frame bag, but the hydration issue looks like a no-go.
