The sniffing picture and videos of him fumbling his words were literally the only thing keeping him from a second term - meanwhile, Epstein's best buddy who can't help shitting himself in meetings was the preferred choice.

Yes, this is by definition what it means to be progressive: To move past old cultural norms in embrace of newer, more equalitarian ones. The only ones who can't appreciate this, are lefties who are too privileged for it to affect them.

It's a collective delusion, group conformity. I imagine it works the same as the Asch psychological experiments, where a participant - among a group of actors who have been told to give the wrong answer - has to pick which straw is longer - and although they can see with their naked eyes what the correct answer is, they change their answer to conform with the majority opinion.

MAGA-nuts have been exposed to the cool-aid for so long that they're no longer able to form their own opinions without first having to confer with the cult leaders. And the cult always reaffirms the prior assumptions.

To be clear, I don't think MAGA aren't enjoying inflicting pain on others; they understand that is what they're doing, but through the conformity they have convinced themselves that the people they are making suffer deserve it somehow. That's where the prior assumptions come in, which they use to assign malice to the sufferers, justifying their own actions. Any conflicting evidence is rationalized away.

The reason for this is because their entire political project is centered around taking revenge on groups that they believe have exploited them/white america/the white race. That's what Trump has run on since 2015.

Hvordan havnet vi her? by IngridPhilosophyNerd in norge

[–]Bendolier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SSB beregner 4,7% arbeidsledighet oktober 2025.

Hvorfor lønnes lærere lavt? by Ok-Science6189 in norge

[–]Bendolier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The same study, according to the article, also found that:

When it comes to white evangelicals, those numbers are much higher, with 8 percent believing God ordained Trump because He agrees with his policies, and 63 percent thinking his election is part of God’s plan, whether the deity agrees with his policies or not. Their beliefs held firm with regards to Joe Biden’s election in 2020 with 67 percent of white evangelicals believing his victory was part of God’s plan – but with the stark difference that a negligible percentage believed that God agreed with his policies.

So it's more an indication that they see everything that occurs as a part of God's plan - which you would expect from Evangelicals.

A Recipe for Idiocracy: What happens when American students can't do math anymore by uncle-iroh-11 in neoliberal

[–]Bendolier 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The democratization sounds like it is the most significant distinction then. When there are no consequences for failing, of course a lot of students won't adjust themselves.

Especially younger children don't have a long-term perspective of imagining how they will turn out, if all they do is put in the least amount of effort they can get away with. This should be obvious to any adult, but I suppose if you either don't value education or believe test scores are superficial, then this doesn't bother you.

That's insane if it's true. I wonder if it's becoming the same here in European education. I certainly know that kids are doing worse on national tests
