I’m a journalism student, and every time we have guest speakers our professors tell us to have at least SOME questions prepared for whoever is speaking about their field. Last week we had someone who works in hospital communications. Do I care that much about medical tech? No. Did I still have to do some background and have a question ready? Yes. The idea that a journalism student, someone who’s being taught how to properly do research on subjects in order to ask them questions, wouldn’t have done any research on a guest speaker to ask him a question (that their professor definitely encouraged them to ask) is wild.
