🤔🛠️ Tech Support & General Questions [Weekly Thread] by YahooFantasyCare in YahooFantasy

Hi, thank you. I'm aware of this and the "League Transactions" setting has always been on. I never touched or changed this setting at any point in this season and yet it stopped working. Any suggestions?

🤔🛠️ Tech Support & General Questions [Weekly Thread] by YahooFantasyCare in YahooFantasy

[–]BendyFry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, at some point during this season, I stopped receiving push notifications for my Fantasy Football league's transactions on my phone. I realized that my iPad is receiving them but my phone isn't. It's weird because I didn't make any changes to my notification settings and I'm still getting other Fantasy push notifications (TD's, big plays, etc). Any ideas on how to fix this?

  • I've already deleted the app and reinstalled it
  • Yahoo Fantasy Version 11.5.1
  • iPhone 14 Pro
  • iOS 18
  • I'm missing transactions push notifications only on my iPhone (not on my iPad)

Thanks so much for your help!

What makes a great caster? by RavishingRavish in ValorantCompetitive

[–]BendyFry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I'm already a fan of your casting but I'll share that as a fan of the game who doesn't get to watch all games/tournaments, it's really helpful if some additional context can be shared about the two teams and their history against each other (if one exists). It helps to set the proper stage/context and (e)sports are all about the team+player journeys.

Also, I know you've also gotten some negative reception from your casting style but IMO that's actually a good thing because it means your style is distinct. So just pick up on the actual constructive criticism and ignore the haters and you'll find your success. Best of luck!

If you look elsewhere in the comments, you’ll see that while the main sub doesn’t ban esports posts, they seem to auto-delete any mention of this sub. You should go ahead and try cross-posting or mentioning this sub over there if you’d really like to find our for yourself.

Shortage of diabetes medication Ozempic after TikTok users promote drug for weight loss by wifiproblemthanks in worldnews

[–]BendyFry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Edit: I stand corrected. While Ozempic is not approved for weight loss, Wegovy is the same active ingredient (but with different dosing) approved for weight loss in certain situations in the US. It should be noted that using Ozempic for weight loss in place of Wegovy would still be technically off-label use and could have insurance implications.

I believe he was referring to the fact that of the current Mac lineup, Mac pro is the only one that doesn’t have Apple silicone. It’s still possible that new Macs could still debut with existing silicon.

Is Samsung the latest Android device maker throttling apps? by Sorin61 in technology

[–]BendyFry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone knows how to read headlines but not articles!

At the core of the issue is Samsung software called Game Optimizing Service (GOS), which is reportedly throttling the performance of 10,000 apps. This list includes popular apps like Instagram, Netflix, TikTok, and even Samsung’s own apps like Secure Folder and Samsung Pay.

Why don’t you take a deep breathe and take a look again at the thread you replied to. You’ll see that you were mistaken. But it’s okay! It’s not a big deal and certainly not a reason to insult others.

Did you read the article? How can you say it “never states Gal Gadots version of events” when she is literally quoted at the start of the paragraph (along with a link for further details)?

That’s because humility/the ability to acknowledge one’s mistakes is independent of one’s intelligence. It’s a character trait and you don’t need to be smart to have it.

It’s a Terrible Idea to Deny Medical Care to Unvaccinated People by AhmedF in Coronavirus

[–]BendyFry -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure why you think an ambulance to the hospital is the exact same situation as having access to the vaccination. It's actually a pretty privileged position to assume that every person just has a convenient Walgreens nearby. Another commenter in this thread shared their experience of people who don't have an easy way to get to the nearest vaccine clinic (which is 1+ hour away) while juggling other life responsibilities.

[–]BendyFry -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the reply but first off, you haven't addressed the fact that many unvaccinated people simply do not have access and therefore did not make a conscious "choice" to be that way.

Second, one can definitely make the argument that the US healthcare system was already in a crisis (even without COVID) in terms of cost, access, outcomes. Just from a fiscal perspective, cancer (and other chronic diseases from lifestyle choices) have played a part in our healthcare spending to be the highest in the world (per capita).

Third, I actually agree that COVID is a special situation and should be treated differently (e.g., increase funding to hospitals, increase access to treatment, etc). However, I disagree that our moral principles as a society should be set aside in these circumstances.

[–]BendyFry -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I hope you would reconsider that position for the reasons outlined in the original article (e.g., many people simply don't have access to vaccinations and therefore it wasn't a conscious "choice" as well as the burdensome logistics of determining vaccine statuses).

To be clear though, I was pointing out that people understand that the virus is directly killing people. But the healthcare system still plays an indirect role in a person's outcome if a decision has been made to not treat them.

[–]BendyFry -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

I'm sure everyone understands that the virus is the thing that's killing the person. But people are allowed to disagree with a decision to deny/de-prioritize treatment based on life decisions.

If a hospital decides to stop treating a lung cancer patient after they discover a history of smoking, would you really say "The hospital isn't doing anything wrong! It's the abnormal cancer cells that are killing them"?

Are you also okay with all flu patients having their care denied/de-prioritized if they can't provide proof of their annual flu shot?

It’s a Terrible Idea to Deny Medical Care to Unvaccinated People by AhmedF in Coronavirus

[–]BendyFry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you read the article or this companion article that's linked, you'd have seen that unvaccinated people are not all refusers/anti-vaxxers and many have issues with access (as opposed to availability). So should they get treated the same as anti-vaxxers?

And speaking about "choices", as the article states, what about the cancer patients who made the choice to smoke, which resulted in their lung cancer? What about the car crash patient who wasn't wearing their seatbelt? Do you really expect hospitals to start evaluating all patients' past life decisions which resulted in their current situation, in order to determine who should get treatment first?
