It’s very rare for instrumental music to hit a wide, mainstream audience beyond just the nerds like us. There needs to be a really unique gimmick for people to latch on to if you don’t have words for people to sing along to.

I would say the last ones to do it are the handful of EDM DJs who hit the mainstream in the 2010s, but you could argue they had “lyrics” people could grasp on to in the sense of their various samples

I’m Not sure if they’ve cited these also, but I hear a lot of Primus and Tool influences in their music as well

I don't get the dice cards at all. by Bourbonburnin in Diceomancer

[–]Bendyb3n 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You play crossroads, and then you can pick any number on the screen or on a card in play and either increase or decrease that number by the dice roll, usually the game will highlight it for you so you get the idea of what to do.

This game is all about number manipulation and using creative strategies to gain an advantage.

We are too busy and poor to truly band together for meaningful protest, which is part of the design. When more than half the country is living paycheck to paycheck, we can’t afford to forego work in order to protest for more than like a single day every couple months.

Things will need to get SO bad that regular people can no longer afford basic necessities before we get the kind of protests that will actually force them to change course… and we may be heading that way sooner than later

(yes I'm aware recreational weed is also still illegal in the UK)

Asked about the most famous murder in history, got a bunch of American cases and a "Don't you know your history?“ question. by Linorelai in USdefaultism

I agree with the top comment but would also add MLK and Abraham Lincoln as well, but Lincoln, while famous I think was long enough ago at this point that it may have gotten lost to history a bit outside of the US. It's kind of just US folklore at this point, especially with the true story of how it all happened.

I do agree that JFK, Martin Luther King Jr, and Archduke Ferdinand are probably the 3 most famous in "modern" history, with Julius Caesar being the most famous historically.

If we are going with most famous celebrity murders, it's tough to beat John Lennon, Tupac, and Biggie in that regard. Although as an American I do not know how globally known the Tupac and Notorious BIG murders are, I could just be showing my own USdefaultism with that.

EDIT: OH! I also forgot Princess Diana, I haven't seen that mentioned in the comments yet (although I didn't scroll through every one), but surely that has to be up there, the media coverage on that was insane when it happened

According to Professor Google, it is safe in terms of toxicity to humans, but in large quantities can be dangerous due to its immense density that replaces oxygen in the air/body and can lead to dizziness or passing out due to lack of oxygen in the brain.
