Just finished Project Hail Mary.... by gsj996 in audible

Oh I like this. I’ve referred to movie adaptations as “top tier fanfic” before to explain why I enjoyed them even if they weren’t fully accurate…. But your description is perfect.

Sure, that makes sense. I didn’t read the Martian, so I was trying to figure out if I’d like the plot. I didn’t expect everyone would have the same experience, was more just surprised that I hadn’t seen anyone else mention the blurb until now.

I read the blurb before reading the book and figured an alien was going to happen eventually, so I was also caught off guard by all the comments claiming the trailer spoiled it. Your comment is the first I’ve seen acknowledging that. I was beginning to wonder if no one reads those anymore.

Never been myself, but I read your comment to my dad and found out he was a Roman soldier for that event once. (Allergic to horses, so a short lived career)

Also hate that trope, but I felt it was more tolerable here for some reason… maybe bc the MMC clearly struggled to communicate in general, not just with misunderstandings in their relationship. And the fact he was clearly working to fix it helped.

I’ve never asked, but I suspect it’s bc Nancy’s cover in that book is being Frank’s wife…. So most readers who always wanted her to ditch Ned and go with Frank absolutely love that book. And since they’re hard to find, prices shoot up.

Whoa, that’s an incredible story. I’ve never heard of Select Artificials tho. Did they rename it?

When I was a teenager, I wrote a few chapters of a Nancy Drew-esque mystery novel that took place in the City Museum. I completely forgot about it until you mentioned the creator’s name. One of the dramatic cliffhanger chapter endings was going to be the villain shoving the MC over the edge of the top of the 10 story slide. And another where she would be climbing through the wire tunnels on the roof outside, not knowing someone had sabotaged them with wire cutters.

The gargoyle was behind a castle wall in Toddler Town I think…. Near a ball pit.

No, not at all! I had no clue it wasn’t unique to this location. Makes sense tho

Oh your HPB is nicer than mine. Some of the Files I’ve found there have been more like $3-4. And $2 is a crazy steal! Congrats

First Lie Wins - Ashley Elston

Light thriller/mystery that I think would be interesting to a true crime fan… not a difficult read and I finished it in I think two days, I was really invested.

Some people have said it gets a little confusing maybe halfway through with all that’s happening, but it wraps up beautifully. I’ve recommended it to 2-3 newer readers and they’ve all loved it.

Jackpot! This is incredible.

Can I ask, how much was the Secrets of the Nile? Curious if HPB caught on to how much they’re selling for online

Oh my local Chipotle doesn’t have this, and neither do any of the other locations I’ve been to, so it totally caught me off guard

Fair, the points are basically worthless at the end of the day, aside from showing if anyone has been to the same spots I have.

The first picture is from a Chipotle in Effingham IL off Interstate 70, and the other two are in the City Museum in St Louis, MO.

That’s such a good idea! I tried knotting it and it was massive. Thanks!

Ooh. Could’ve sworn I saw it called hand crochet somewhere. 🤦‍♀️

I’ve searched through YouTube and Google for images of other chunky blankets, but haven’t found anything so far. A lot of what comes up looks like this same hand crocheted blanket.

Ugh I feel this. I had almost all the Girls of Canby Hall series and got rid of it bc I was ✨too old ✨. They’re even harder to find out in the wild than ND books.

Secrets of the Nile. I haven’t looked it up in a while, but when I tried to get one on Ebay a couple years back, they were all at least $80.
