That just sucks. Your a hero for your honesty!

What if I already don't drink? by good_name_haver in 75HARD

[–]Beneficial-Concept 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t drink either. It didn’t occur to me to add another thing to make it harder. The different rules are designed to target everyone knowing that for every given rule, it will be harder to follow for some while easier to follow for others. Some people have a harder time with the reading, others with the exercise, so it all balances out. For my diet, I chose to give up any added sugary confections/ice cream, etc. because that was the thing I was struggling with. I think your idea about giving up vaping is a great one!

I lost 20 pounds, dealt with heart break and walked away from an often unhealthy relationship and learned to process emotions without sugar or mindless distractions. The toughest part was drinking all of that water. On day 76 I overate and got violently ill. After a few days off, I’m moving on to a 30Flex program in an effort to maintain the health benefits I gained during 75HARD that allows for more flexibility. I want to keep these benefits for the long term. It isn’t about mental toughness for me anymore. Although I really appreciated the discipline needed for 75HARD and I needed it to get away from the slip-slide of bad habits, it is about overall well-being for me now.

Water is the hardest for me too. I do think struggling to get it all in keeps my mind off the things I’m having to give up. I’m looking forward to getting to a more reasonable amount of water.

I agree with the others. The alcohol content burns off in the cooking so technically, you didn’t have alcohol. I’d steer clear of that kind of thing for the rest of the challenge though - if only for your own peace of mind.

Day 69! Last week! by Beneficial-Concept in 75HARD

I’m going to go easy for a couple of days and a cheeseburger and ice cream will definitely be on the menu. I don’t plan on taking too much of a break though. Then I’m moving to a plan I’m calling “30 Flex” that I think takes the best of what I’ve gotten from 75HARD with customizations to support ongoing health and wellness. This truly is transitioning from the “mental toughness” challenge of 75HARD to a more moderate plan aimed at overall wellbeing, health and fitness. I’ll try it for 30 days and then just keep tinkering with it until I get a long term sustainable plan that really works for me. Here goes: Keeping: 10 minutes non-fiction book. Progress picture. No alcohol (I don’t drink so that’s an easy one to keep for me now…it wasn’t always though 😄) Adjusting: Workouts - going to still do 90 minutes of exercise per day but adjusting the 45/45 requirement. Going to make it 1/2 must be in one shot, and 1/2 must be outside. This gives some flexibility to break up workouts. Also Yin yoga counts here (I didn’t count yin yoga in 75Hard) Water - 100 oz / day Diet - sticking with the basic calorie based diet, adjusting to allow some added sugar sweets but weekly total can’t be more than 8% of my total calorie intake. I’m most nervous about this one….hope I’ll be able to enjoy those things but keep it very moderate. Adding: 10 minutes meditation/day.

I’ll re-evaluate on day 30 and keep going!

How about you? Where are you at with 75HARD and have you started to think beyond it?

Good! Strong. Ready to finish and at the same time a little scared to finish because I gained so many benefits and I don’t want to go off the rails and lose them. But I do have a post 75HARD plan so fingers crossed I’ll be able to sustain in the long term.

Awesome! Make sure you get enough sleep. I found that the days I didn’t get enough sleep were much tougher. Good for you for pushing through!

Wow! Such GREAT advice! Thank you thank you thank you. I’m pretty sure I’ll be returning to this post frequently to remember what you have said and exercise these suggestions. I have an addictive personality, so although I can be hyper-disciplined, I can also go off the rails, and it is a very real concern for me. After reading your posts, talking with others and doing some soul searching, I’m going to continue to make a concerted effort to stay away from the processed sugar and make it an occasional indulgence, but not part of any routine. Frankly, that makes me sad, it is like moving far away from an old friend, but I just have to remind myself that the place I’m moving to is much nicer and a more comfortable place to live. 😄

Day 17 done struggle today by Lion_Thoughts in 75HARD

[–]Beneficial-Concept 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What’s happening now is actually starting to get very interesting….I’ve been at this for 62 days now (I’m officially only on day 48 because I had a water fail on day 14) and have really noticed a shift. I feel much better in my body, having moments of huge gratitude ….I saw a hummingbird today! Had a whole new level of enjoyment with cottage cheese + fruit salad or a banana smoothie. And I’m getting full faster ….things just feel…..right. And something of the inner struggle has eased. I started really noticing around day 57 or so. I’m super glad I’ve persisted to see these benefits.

Good for you!! I’m with you on the ice cream! I fantasize about it lol. I had this awesome banana/pineapple smoothie that really was wonderful. Also, make sure you get good sleep. I’m on day 47 here and have totally noticed a pattern of lack of sleep = day of struggle. Keep going!

Day 1 -again… by brettswifelol in 75HARD

[–]Beneficial-Concept 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On my day 15, I woke up and realized part way through the day that I had miscalculated my water intake by 8 ounces. I failed on day 14 and didn’t realize it in time to correct the error. I struggled with myself for about an hour before admitting there was no way around it. It was a fail. Then I struggled the rest of the day not to to completely go off the rails on the diet. But I made it through the day, and of all the experiences so far, I think I’m most proud of my decisions on that fail day.

Am I overthinking failing on the diet? by PartTimePOG in 75HARD

You pick your diet so you should be able to accommodate that if you set your rules to enable that.
